Installing to sd card on official 2.1

Hi, I have rooted my phone and all is working. Can you install to the sd card using the official 2.1? I have installed apptosd and its giving me an error about wrong firmware or sd card not formatted properly.

You do know that you have to partition your sd card correctly, right? If not, you should read the forums a little. There is an official guide pinned.

I partitioned the sd card when I rooted the phone, following the guide on here. I have read the forum quite a bit before posting but couldn't see anything about apptosd working on official 2.1 firmware. is there any other options to have programs on the sd card?

On official (dload folder), no, but on every custom rom, yes. I highly recommend that you instal a custom rom. It improves stability, speed, and minimizes the sms problem due to low memory. Good luck
