Guest TGWS Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Can my pulse have Android 1.6? ( Donut )
Guest rulerofkaos Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Can my pulse have Android 1.6? ( Donut ) No, but it can have Android 2.1 (Eclair) and hopefully soon 2.2 (Froyo)
Guest rjm2k Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Can my pulse have Android 1.6? ( Donut ) Technically speaking, since 1.6 is based on the same kernel as 2.1 (2.6.29) then yes you probably could have it if you ported it yourself, however 2.1 is probably a better bet.

Guest Simon O Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 well, it is an interesting question. 1.6 can run a lot of apps that is not available for 1.5, while having less memory footprint. That is true. Most apps work on 1.6 and 2.1 these days and it can do most things that 2.1 can do. Might be a nice project for somebody.

Guest impalaman Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Donut should work with the .27 kernel too (I'm not sure in this, i only read about this on XDA, a few months ago). So someone could make a working version because we have the .27 kernel source. Sorry for my english, i hope you understand my words. :P
Guest Richard_Arkless Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Donut should work with the .27 kernel too (I'm not sure in this, i only read about this on XDA, a few months ago). So someone could make a working version because we have the .27 kernel source. Sorry for my english, i hope you understand my words. :P I think people tried a while back to use the .27 kernel and it booted but hardly anything was working (not even 2g) so it definitely needed the .29 one which at the time we didnt have cause there wasnt a 2.1 rom for the pulse so it just stopped there and was going nowhere Now we have 2.1 its time for someone to continue that project where they left off Here is the project in question, http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile...lopment-effort/ I think its pointless though as 2.1 is fine once you have tweaked it and once the development of 2.2 is done that will be almost or just as fast as 1.x and its possible to finish as 2.2 can run well on both the .29 and the .32 but im sure there will be a few who would want 1.6 The 2.2 development has also reached alot in a short space of time, I have tried it and it does everything I need it to do, 2g, wifi, bluetooth work fine its just the camera and 3g which is a bit of trouble but really the pulse hasnt got a great camera anyway so the camera aint a huge loss and currently I havent paid for 6 months internet so that stays disabled anyway. Im sure it will probably gonna take another couple of months Tom g and many others are to thank for that :) Edited September 10, 2010 by Richard_Arkless
