Guest daskalos Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Goodbye My Samsung B7610 Curious on what happened? :P In an unfortunate event, my beloved B7610 slipped off my pocket when I was riding my bike and it tumbled a full 360 in the rugged concrete road. Well, the device was ok, no internal hardware damage or whatsoever , but the corners where scratched, where one corner received a nasty one... The thing is, I hate seeing my things damaged. For me, it's better to see my damaged belongings gone, than to see them everyday, all worn out. And although I cherish my B7610 so much, when I see those scratches, it just break my heart :) Call me weird, but I can't help it :) So I posted it on an online selling and trading site for cheaply $182, with all details (and scratches) posted, and after few minutes, someone made a reservation and will be getting my device later. So I'm currently backing up my files and compiling my ROMs and some apps for the buyer later, and I think I'm getting some teary eyes a bit :( Me and my B7610 had shared so many times together, being my all-in-one tool in my adventures and work. I bet if there would be a record for the most number of flashing B7610's firmware, I would definitely win :D I've gone through sleepless nights learning how to cook for B7610, having countless failures in the process, but was worth it in the end .... Those will be the memories that can't be forgotten... If my B7610 can only hear me, I would like to say to it: "Although you ain't that thin or ain't running an OS that many say is much better than you already have, for me, you're still the best, not because of hardware or software or such, but because you served me well" If it answered and asks "So, why giving me away?" I'll answer:"It's time for you to serve another and make him/her happy as well..." Well I really hope my B7610 will not ask back, or i'll be smashing it to pieces :P Anyway, this is not a goodbye thread, so if you're planning to post some "I'm getting an Angroin or an iPoo or goodbye to my worthless b7610 because blah is so much better etc", you're in the wrong thread. This thread is just in proud memory of my faithful B7610, which again, served me well.... So what's next? Will I'll be leaving the forum? Nah, I'll be sticking for a while and continue cooking some customs ROMs, blindly :P Will I'll get another B7610? Well there's a big possibility, as I just want my B7610 to be new and shiny, and if my donation box is doing well :(... Oh we will be meeting up soon, so I'm finishing this up Bye My B7610, for now :( Edited September 10, 2010 by daskalos
Guest Ignition Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 thats unfortunate news.. i am similar to you in that i dropped my phone and now when closed the keypad doesnt line up properly.. and like you i think hmmmmm should just get a new phone... haha.... but you have been awesome with your support for the b7610.. without you a lot of people would be running slow and horrid samsung rubbish... so THANK YOU! :P
Guest 20x Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Quite unfortunate, both for you and the community! All the best with your LG that you already have! Can I make one last request? I loved your "MEGAlite 6.5.5 jc2 build 23566 V0.6", 6.5.5 rom, and believe it I still use it! It has very small footprint 88mb, great memory even better than 6.5 rom and it hasn't got other programs to. If it would be possible to make something like that, a megalite one, with a newer rom and without any of the programs either microsoft or other freewares, then this rom will be a real service the b7610 community. Because newer programs will always be installable from other sources, but the core of it should be strong and great! If you could build one this certainly would be a parting gift for all of us. I can do all the testing stuff etc. if required. Thanks! Edited September 10, 2010 by 20x
Guest Namar Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Goodbye My Samsung B7610 Anyway, this is not a goodbye thread, so if you're planning to post some "I'm getting an Angroin or an iPoo or goodbye to my worthless b7610 because blah is so much better etc", you're in the wrong thread. @daskalos I do not own a b7610 ( I own I8000) but I couldnot help laughing when I read you thread especially the two lines above. :P :) :( Edited September 10, 2010 by Namar

Guest Kiwi Dave Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) So I posted it on an online selling and trading site for cheaply $182, with all details (and scratches) posted, and after few minutes, someone made a reservation and will be getting my device later. OH CRAP..!! Mate - you're the one person thats made this phone semi useable for me. Such a shame as the hardware is good, just the original software leaves a bit to be desired - I think I speak for lots here in stating that you will really be missed. So what's next? Will I'll be leaving the forum? Nah, I'll be sticking for a while and continue cooking some customs ROMs, blindly :) Will I'll get another B7610? Well there's a big possibility, as I just want my B7610 to be new and shiny, and if my donation box is doing well :P... So there's still a bit of hope for us.... great stuff. Come on ladies and lads get those donations in... 30 people (out of the 100s downloading ROMs) sending Daskalos $10 each would go a very long way towards a replacement phone....... Guest frenkie999999999 Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Oh my god............................................................................. ............
Guest darthveda Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 looks like a bad week for b7610, last sunday I got hit by a high wave on the beach which screwed up my device. It's still there in service center, they said might need a mobo for it and might cost something like 120$, waiting to hear their final confirmation.
Guest XYZ_19989 Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 182$ is a expensive price...i bought a new b7610 fone last month with about 230$...In Vietnam
Guest albireox Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 That's bad news for us. Daskalos, I hope you can buy again a B7610, I use your rom and I'm more than happy with it. Anyway, thank you for your effort in making the B7610 usable.
