Guest dareal Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 I've been unable to update Google Maps from the marketplace with the new release today, it always fails to install when I try to. Anyone able to help? I can't install also. It said that package signature verification failed. But I guess its a gmaps error, because I already updated a few other applications.
Guest WebWacker Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 I'm also unable to update Google Maps, using the R9 WIP from 07/Sep.
Guest Kiran J. Holla Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 I had the same experience this morning on my R8. However, not to worry as all you need to do is wait for Paul to update the R9 Kitchen with the latest version and bake yourself a new ROM with the update baked in. Regards, Kiran

Guest RevoWution Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Patience is a virtue you must learn, mate... Paul has already said he'll add the update tomorrow. I'm sure you can wait another day... :/

Guest flash78 Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 I was able to update this morning with R8, but my R8 was baked with the kitchen without the included maps. So maybe it depends on the way how maps is installed (kitchen/market).
Guest thephreak Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Personally I'd like to be able to update it without having to burn a new ROM. i agree
Guest Slex Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Cant update either having the R8 and A2SD+ it's failing due to what i'm not sure ! "I do want to update it from the market as well" :P Over and Out Slex Edited September 10, 2010 by Slex

Guest DragosP Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Correct me if I'm wrong, but if google maps is in /system, it can't be upgraded. Edited September 10, 2010 by DragosP
Guest EddyOS Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Must be a ROM issue as works fine on stock 2.10.405.2
Guest Eyonik Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Correct me if I'm wrong, but if google maps is in /system, it can't be upgraded. So just baking without GMaps and then downloading it from the Market will work? And why does Paul put it in /system anyway, any advantages this way? Edit: anyone knows the package name of google maps? We could use mcr console and remove it from /system Edited September 10, 2010 by Eyonik
Guest EddyOS Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 As Google Maps is a Google app then it can be updated, as said in my previous post, it updated fine on my stock 2.10.405.2 ROM...and Paul has it on system to save on space as it's large
Guest Paul Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 r8 kitchen updated to latest Google Maps, Google Quick Search Box and Flash Player. P
Guest marcuso Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) r8 kitchen updated to latest Google Maps, Google Quick Search Box and Flash Player. P so no way to update without rebake ? Tried also with removing from system (adb in recovery) - same error. Reinstalled old maps in /data again - still same issue. Marcus EDIT: could not find the updated maps in the r8 kitchen ? Edited September 10, 2010 by marcuso
Guest headcleaner Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 can't we just remove maps with clockwork and then install it again from the market? this way it should be updateable. adb shell mount /system adb shell rm /system/app/whatever.apk
Guest nevawlkalone Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 forgive my ignorance but whats abd recovery - not been on android long and only flashed my device this week...would like to get this updated preferably without a rebak

Guest marcuso Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 forgive my ignorance but whats abd recovery - not been on android long and only flashed my device this week...would like to get this updated preferably without a rebak you can use android-sdk to access the phone via a "shell" in recovery-mode, where you actually are able to delete apps from /system (which can not be acessed read/write in normal mode). BUT as i posted before: This did not help - maps from market still could not be updated/installed (throwing "not properly signed" error in logacat) Marcus

Getting bugged by wave secure...

Guest EddyOS Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 Hmmm, never had that issue in the past...looks like you'll have to use adb or rebake
