Please, read the forum before opening a new thread :P

I had a quick look in the forum when arriving and didn't see anything mentioning the streak release to concisely so thenk you to the poster.

what's even funnier is the OP hasn't got a streak!

Maybe they are interested in all things Android

(No I don't have a Streak either :P , but it doesn't mean I am not interested in getting one or following progress!)

There were several threads, which have been deleted since they were unnecessary (similar to OPs post)

Dell Streak Source - Modaco Thread

To be fair to others, the title of that thread and its original contents were speculative in nature. After reading this forum exclusively for the better part of the day yesterday, I wasn't aware of the release until reading another Streak forum. I was surprised there was no announcement post. Few people re-read threads to see if its contents changed substantially.

Ive been on the net and forums for many years, but i dislike the way some forums are run. I really dont agree with the practice that an old thread that said one thing is continued when a new thing happens. In this case the original thread said dell are moving on the source code release. In my view a new thread should have been created when it actually was. It makes finding things MUCH easier. Forum searches are notoriously poor. In experience from running another forum i can tell you it reduces bandwidth and server load.

Failing to do this results in long threads that many have hundreds of posts before anything useful or relevant to the end point is actually said.

Thats better, but can still result in many pages of useless, out of date information before the point is reached. Its not so bad here, but on occasion at XDA-devs (for example) it can be dozens of pages before anything useful shows up. This results in people posting that they cant be bothered to read all the pages and they ask for a quick synopsis. Its entirely counter productive to continue old threads.

No, I don't have Streak - I have T-Mobile Pulse, which is entry-level Android phone.

The reason for posting this is simple - there was NO thread with this subject - and that is one of (IMHO) most important part of any topic.

I like Android and everything built for it. I have few fast/slow relevant/irrelevant sources which I follow and if I find something useful, I report it where I think it might be useful.

For all of you "purist" - sorry for "another" boring post. I promise I'll never post here again.
