Guest huuh22 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 (edited) Hallo, im little sad because it seems not to be possible to use VOIP Apps on the Pulse. Iam using VOIP Accounts (SIP) for years now @home and want to use my Home VOIP Numbers on the Mobile to. Nothing is blocked by the Provider here. (O2) I did Try about 5 apps and with all the same Problem, instead on the front Speaker the Back speaker is in use. It seems there are problems with some other Android Phones to like the Samusng Spica. If i understand right (sorry my english is no more good) there is a kernel Patch for the Spica as solution for this Problem. My question ti you all is, does anybody use VOIP withoput a Headset with the Pulse Phone? And if, which Firmware do you use? Ore what did you do that it runs? Ive no problem with Sip in itself, evything works fine with Sipdroid and even other Apps, only the Speaker Problem.... Thank you very much please Excuse Bad English-- Edited September 11, 2010 by huuh22
Guest D-D- Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Did u try Fring? It has SIP and I think it's working with the front speaker. Well it does work when calling another fring user.
Guest harrise Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 I am also trying to use sip voip (that was one of main reason why I bought pulse) but also have problem with speaker and second problem is that I can't receive sip call because pulse is not ringing after display is turned off. It would be great if someone had success to share setup with community. Thx
Guest harrise Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 I have discovered that option wi-fi never sleep is not working properly. When screen turn off wi-fi also go to sleep and can't receive sip call. Here is tread about that and solution http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9781 Now when we have source code, is it possible to fix that and speaker problem ?
Guest huuh22 Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 thanks for the responses, using Voip via UMTS was one of the main reasons for me too... Using Sip works here with Sipdroid, even if Display is off (Sipdroid with UMTS or Wlan tested) - "only" the speaker Problem  And, thanks, in fact, Fring has not the Speaker Prob -thanks D-D - i did try about 5 Apps, now this is the first without the Speaker Problem. But of course - integration for Voip is not so good in this Multi Tool, you cant see who did call before, can´t use the Adress Book etc..... Integration of Sipdroid is much nicer... - to bad, i did hope some of you have a Solution ;( i dont know anything about Kernel patching and this thing - the spica has the same Problem and it seems to be fixed here - may somebody understands this code? May it works fior the Pulse to? May if You are interested in using voip "make a star" at this 2 Sipdroid Issues: http://code.google.com/p/sipdroid/issues/detail?id=341 http://code.google.com/p/sipdroid/issues/detail?id=366 but would be nicer to find a solution for all Apps on the Pulse.. (Same Problem with Nimbuzz, 3cxphone, ,the betamax voip tool...) No Rington if Display is off Problem: No Problems here with Sipdroid, works via Wifi and 3G/Edge - (It can be a problem if you use a Router with Voip and another Voip Device in the network because of the Ports - - here it works in Wifi but im surprised about this (7270) )

Guest harrise Posted September 14, 2010 Report Posted September 14, 2010 No Rington if Display is off Problem: No Problems here with Sipdroid, works via Wifi and 3G/Edge - (It can be a problem if you use a Router with Voip and another Voip Device in the network because of the Ports - - here it works in Wifi but im surprised about this (7270) ) Here it's working just with 3g and edge if I turn on wifi and screen goes to sleep I can't receive call. And that is very frustrating :-( It seams that this depends also on wlan modem used, probably not so many users are using VOIP SIP and therefore are not reporting problems. Here is text from other forum about the problem: This app doesn't work for me and my Desire but seems to help some with the Nexus. http://wififixer.wordpress.com/2010/07/14/n1sleeptldr/ "The Nexus One uses the Broadcom 4329 wifi/bluetooth chip. This chip supports wifi power save mode. Instead of leaving the wifi chip at full power like on other devices when Wifi Sleep Policy is set to Never or Never while Plugged in, the Nexus One uses the wifi power save mode. Many access points/routers are unable to properly handle this mode, so the connection drops. Note: Some revisions of the Broadcom 4329 chip may work better in wifi power save mode. That’s it. If I were Google, I’d change the driver to just leave the wifi chip at full power like other devices do when in Never sleep mode. Or, I’d add another option to Sleep Policy mode for wifi power save. In any case, I hope Google does something, because more and more Android devices will be using the same chip, or other chips that use power save mode. The behavior of Wifi Sleep Policy should be consistent across Android. However, let’s give the engineers at Google some time to study and work on the problem. We have no idea what’s involved."

It seams really wierd that few persons are bothered by this problem. Frustrating is echo sound other person hear during talk. Skype is also using back speaker. Edited October 6, 2010 by harrise
