Acer UI From Liquid Froyo ROM

I don't understand why anyone would want to use the Acer Launcher, it's sluggish and unintuitive. Acer is trying to reinvent the wheel and it's a waste of effort.

I agree on sluggish, but definitely not on the "unintuitive". The way it is done seems more logical to me. Like accessing 3G, wifi, usb, gps, date settings from the bar, since it's shown there !

In default android, you can check their status there, but you must go somewhere else to change it. That sounds definitely NOT intuitive.

Also the home vs lock screen is interesting: home screen is a place where to launch apps, and that's all. Lock screen gets your infos quickly through widgets.

PS: Note that I still use android UI, since that's what I'm used to.

I like Acer UI only because is... original... I know launcher pro is better, adw too, but it's a way to have something different than eclair, lockscreen is beautiful, the home is a bit laggy and I'd like to have the possibility to choose what to put in the side pages (where there is recent apps and gallery), like the others launchers.

My little opinion. :P

Just add Launcher pro on /system/app, you'll get the bottom bar, its goodies, the acer lock screen, with launcher pro all at the same time. Get the best of both worlds.

Exactly, but I'd prefer a solution similar to the Galaxy S not the Liquid's one :P

Have I to delete anything after that? Have I only to add launcher pro?

If you want my set-up, then you should not delete anything. Of course, you should set proper permission on the file to rw r r. Btw, i have not even tried to install launcher pro the normal way. Just maybe, it will be the same thing.

Recently I found a nice app called "Quick Settings" that pretty much makes changing settings quick & easy and customizable (hold down the search button to access it anywhere). It allows changing brightness, sound levels, wifi, gps, bluetooth, 2 ways of toggling data connections, screen timeout, auto-rotation, & even unlock pattern. It's so good that Android by default should have this feature, maybe in Gingerbread...

ok just trying acer ui, seems good because I have my screen as clean as possible still rapidly accessing BT, gps, wifi and so on. But how can I make the notification bubbles stay on the bottom? They remains open even when I drag the bar downward, they keep coming up again! So I have half screen clean only and it's not what I'm looking for

Would the OP or someone who is running the 2.2 leaked rom please post the contents of the /system/media folder i.e. the AcerDatabases and wallpaper folders? These are required for this launcher to work on other phones. TIA
