Guest Keyser Scholze Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 i've probably brikked it but i thought that worst case scenario i would be able to fastboot the desire i've tried both "back" + power and "volume down" + power with no luck so is that it then? do i just have an expensive piece of plastic now? i've tried running the RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865.exe file, which seems to complete successfully, but at the end when it reboots, it just plays the startup tune, lights up the home, menu, back and search buttons but the screen stays blank apologies if this is addressed elsewhere, i have looked, but every solution to brikking seems to involve the FASTBOOT route and i don't have that thanks
Guest Mekerz Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 First of all, what did you change / do to the device for it to become problematic? You mention you ran a RUU, but I believe you ran this after the problem occurred? When did you buy your Desire? Does it mention AMOLED screen on your box/in your manual or does it just say 3.7" touch screen?

Once the installation has completed your phone should restart. All your apps, messages and contacts will be gone, but so will any trace of network branding. the phone restarted and played the tune, lit the keys up but the screen stayed blank i bought my t-mobile branded desire last week, i checked on the phone itself under settings and it said it was an AMOLED screen any help would be greatly appreciated Edited September 12, 2010 by Keyser Scholze

I would be surprised if you only bought your Desire last week and it was AMOLED. I'm pretty sure you can run a RUU whilst in fastboot, not sure you can run RUU whilst your phone is on because you don't have use of the screen to change to USB debugging mode. So, download this: HTC WWE 2.10 RUU Password & username for site is: shipped So I recommend:Power off phoneInsert GoldcardHold down volume down, and whilst holding that down, hit power onYou won't be able to see what you're doing, so wait 20 seconds and phone should be at fastboot menuRun RUU I linked to See if the phone is being updated via the RUU on your computer, as you won't be able to check progress on phone.

Try what I wrote above, remember you won't see what the phone is doing as your screen isn't running but it sounds like the phone is working.
Guest Mekerz Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 that download link says file not found is there somewhere else i can get it? Sounds like the site admin doesn't allow direct linking to files, go to: http://shipped-roms.com/ click the link on that page, input the username and password as above, then go into the bravo folder. Then download this RUU RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142 28_signed.exe 03-Sep-2010 09:00 167M

Just a tip for the future, just read around a bit as guides like the one you linked to, tend to get their info from and link to old sources. :P Very kind of you to offer the donation, British Heart Foundation or any other registered charity who support sufferers of heart conditions and/or their families would be great. Unfortunately a friend passed away from a heart attack on the 18th August, he was only 26.

Feel free to drop me a PM if you need clarification on anything, my Gmail account is linked to the forum so my phone will receive notification that I have a PM. Yeah, 26 - he had a leaking valve but was on medication for it and never made a big deal out of it, I suppose when you have a health issue like that you tend to just get on with it and not let it spoil anything. He was given the all clear by a specialist for another year a week before he died too, including being told he could go to Vegas later this year, life is just too short and unpredictable. Really appreciate the donation! :P
