Problem with phone number on my desire

Hi

When I got my desire I ported my old phone number over from 02 PAYG to my new virgin mobile contract.. all is fine and there has been no problems...

Until I downloaded TiKL - touch to talk

When I started Tikl for the 1st time it showed me a screen asking me to check that the phone number was correct, the problem is that its showing the number that was originally allocated to this handset before my number was ported over.

If I choose:

settings - about phone - phone identity

It shows me the old incorrect pre-port number.

I have asked virgin to sort this but my numerous emails and phone calls have resulted in absolutely nothing changing so I was wondering if anyone knows of an application or something to enable me to change this number?

I am thinking its something that VM will need to change, but thought its worth asking the question here.

I have witnessed the same problem many times with other phones... the sim card's number will show instead of the number ported on to it...

Personally I think its because the number is programmed onto the sim at the factory and the number programmed on to it is the number that the phone shows to you.

just spoke to VM again and they told me to speak to HTC!

i don't think i am ever going to get this to work :P

If you wait about a week let your number go through fully on VM's side and then phone them and say you have lost your sim can you send me another... they should send you a new one and this new sim should have the correct number programmed to it I guess.

hadn't thought of that, I assume that would work... I will give them 24hrs to come back to my latest call and if not I will go down the route.
