Froyo need a rooted phone?

Hi, I just would like to know if I bricked my acer because my phone was not rooted.

So do I need a rooted phone to install froyo on my acer?

In fact I bought a second hand liquid and would consider installing froyo on it but wouldn't want to brick it before the second one is unbricked...

Regards, Julien.

You do not need a rooted phone to flash the Leaked FroYo ROM.

A rooted phone is only needed for installing special apps that require root access. Usually these are apps that access the inner workings of the phone and can cause harm to your phone if used improperly (like overclocking apps, apps that mess with swap, apps that allow you to browse and change the contents of the internal memory, etc.). The leaked FroYo ROM is not an app, it is a leaked FroYo firmware update currently under development at Acer, therefore it is installed like a firmware update.

Just like with any other firmware update, there is a slight chance you will brick your phone. Usually this will happen if you unplug the USB cable during the flashing process, use a USB hub instead of plugging the cable directly into your computer, or your drivers are faulty.

No, android will never be bricked

even how u flash fail , u won't flash bootloader mode away ,

so u can always recover back , of course if u know the way ,

and of course , if the hardware is still in work

From my point of view:" Just keep the hardware alive!" :)

Thanks for your answer but how can my Liquid be bricked since I tried to flash it.

That's why I'm asking about the way to flash it because I bought a second one (second hand) to have something when I'll bring it to repair or behnaam unbrick it.

There's a tool (I think it's called the Acer Download Utility) that lets you choose a bin to flash. You should then connect your device to your computer, then click the button to flash your device.

What he's (or she's) saying is that you technically can't brick your device by flashing: the hardware won't be ruined, so it can still be salvaged by someone who knows a lot about the device's hardware.
