There goes my second Pulse...

Well chaps, I've done it again. My second Pulse beeped its last ringtone a few weeks ago. I've managed to drown this one this time!

My question is, is the Pulse worth getting a THIRD time for ANOTHER £100, or are there better, newer more reliable phones out there for an affordable PAYG/18month contract? Android is a must, 2.1 is preferred but 1.5/1.6 is acceptable.

I do like the Pulse, but considering all the issues I had with my first and second ones I'm a little unsure about getting a third... But for £100 I can't argue I guess?

Help! Any recommendations?

You can get an LG optimus for £99 in carphone warehouse, plus there is that new Huawei phone out soon that will be about £100

Wouldn't say I'm much of a Huawei fanboy, I just liked the Pulse as it was cheap and Android  Looked at the Optimus, but it's a resistive screen and if that's anything like my sisters HTC Tattoo I would have a nightmare trying to type a text on it...

Galaxy S is my ultimate phone, that or the HTC Desire but £30/month for 24 months just ain't within my price range. I think I'm probably looking for something that isn't gonna happen tbh, but might as well try :)

For this price I don't think you can do much better unless you're willing to sacrifice screen size. I guess the HTC Wildfire is an option but you should decide whether you can go to a 240 x 320 pixels, 3.2 inch screen.

And who doesn't want a Galaxy S

Wildfire is really nice, but the lower resolution is a killer for me. So used to the lovely sharp(ish) images on the Pulse

And who doesn't want a Galaxy S :(

Haha damn right, my girlfriends mum got one a few weeks ago, and my dad is getting one in a few weeks to replace a crap Blackberry Storm. Jealous :)

I think I'm gonna be outta luck unless I move back to the Pulse, which considering the issues I've experienced so far I don't think I could risk another £100 on it.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll keep looking for cheap deals on the Galaxy S or the Desire... Good luck on that :)

...

One other thing that's just sprung to mind, the older Galaxy, is it 5400 or something? £12/Month 18 month contract, but it's a refurb and it's on 3.

Waterproof and durable sounds like a MUCH safer investment for me! Any idea on prices for those two? I'd imagine quite high.
