Guest guamzintrusion19 Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 Hi! Please help. Just got this phone a few days ago. I'm getting confused about Main Storage and My Storage and what downloads/installs to where. I downloaded some games through Windows Marketplace and selected the settings to install to My Storage: Marketplace > Menu > Select Default Install Location > \MyStorage So everything was installed successfully... I think around 5 to 6 games under different categories. So I went to Settings and checked memory settings and I saw most of the games were installed under Main Storage. Only two games were installed under My Storage. Why is this? Shouldn't all of them go to My Storage? I understand that keeping the Program RAM and Main Storage with enough free space will prevent the phone from lagging, so I really want to put all these things I want to install to My Storage. Is this possible? This is my first WinMo phone and I want to get used to it first before using custom roms. Please help me with the storage. If there's a way that I can install all apps to My storage that will be great! If not, can you give me ideas/suggestions on how to keep my phone memory at a safe level. Thanks in advance!
Guest Gronostaj Posted September 15, 2010 Report Posted September 15, 2010 Windows Mobile apps are provided as CAB files. Marketplace downloads a CAB for the application you choose and installs it. Developer can choose if the app can be installed anywhere else than to main storage when he's creating a CAB. Maybe apps you've downloaded were preconfigured to always install to main storage.
Guest Klimto Posted September 18, 2010 Report Posted September 18, 2010 Well the difference is quite simple actually. The My Storage is just an internal SD card
Guest jbarrick Posted September 18, 2010 Report Posted September 18, 2010 so does it make a difference for speed or ram to save files to either the main storage or to my storage?
Guest sakisds Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 so does it make a difference for speed or ram to save files to either the main storage or to my storage? Not much, but its preferred to install anything that doesn't need to go to main storage to my storage.
