GPS Connection

Hello everyone.. :lol:

I'm having a problem, i can't get my GPS to fix a satellite, it's just Searching 0(5) up to 0(12)..

i'm using a Navi Computer, and I downloaded a map for my current city..

here's my GPS settings:

GPS program port : COM7

GPS hardware port : COM9

Baud rate 4800

Manage GPS automatically was checked.

i waited for 20mins or more but still searching and can't get to a fix..

also i tried this GPS reg. trick

ANY SUGGESTION/SOLUTION to my problem?

Is the phone function ON? are you in an area where your cellphone coverage is there?

Also please check "Enable XTRA" in samsung settings under GPS.

yes i'm in the area where I have phone coverage..

and yes the XTRA is enabled..-i also updated it :lol:

that's weird indeed. Install GPSMod and then see if it improves.

I remember something I've read about some months ago that the GPS program port can put on com2.

Will you try that?

Have you tried google maps to get an gps fix? than you know for sure if it works or not. Gmaps has a fast fix at mine

I understand the problem you are in. I had the same problem when I changed areas and used my GPS. I found that Com 7 or Com 4 work good. If you have problems locking onto satellites then you have to change your GPS Com port. The best Com will give you a GPS lock in about 1 min or less.

Now the question is which com port is the right com port for the GPS? Can anyone tell us how to figure that out? I hate it that I have to change com ports in different areas.

where can i download a GPSmod? the link that i found in this forum is already dead..

hmm.. i'll try different ports and update you guys later, i already tried com7 and com4 but it's still the same..

i have a question should i stay outside the house to have a fix? i mean go out in the open sky? or inside a room is just good enough?

Definetly outside, open sky very welcome. And leave the phone somewhere, holding it in palm weakens signal a bit.

I think all depends on ROM version. What ROM version are you using now?

i tried gmaps and it's weird because my location in the gmaps is not the city where i am currently in.. actually it's not even in the same country hahaha! :lol:

On the latest Daskalos ROM (Daskalos B7610 6.5.3 ROM Build 23135 Megalite - didn't test Full) my GPS is very fast and has excellent signal reception. Without any driver or reg fix time to full GPS fix is about 1 minute or less.

IT IS SAMSUNG BUG MAYBE . YOUCAN USE YOUR PREFERRED ROM BUT TRY Eboot XXIH5 And Phone bin XXIK3 , These are the PERFECT GPS Detect for me.

I have try many ROM but finally ifound that it depends on EBOOT and PHONE bin , So i think these can help people to solve the problem of recieving GPS SIGNAL .

It does't matter which ROM you want to have as your appreciate, But you can flash in with this EBOOT and PHONE.BIN.
