Hello, can anyone help ? My dell streak pdm port has always been dodgy since I bought it and now its kaput completely. I can no longer charge or connect my phone. I was going to send it back to O2 but the problem is soon as they start it up with another battery modacos logo is going to come up !!! (I have a kitchen firmware from Paul) Now I've bought a universal charger off ebay for the battery so at least I'm going to be able to turn the phone on . Is there anyway I can get rid of this logo or load the original firmware without connecting via usb ? eg. O2 over the air update by fooling the phone into thinking 1.6 is still installed.

Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your issue is purely hardware then it shouldn't matter as it's your phone after all and it isn't possible to damage the pdmi port with software, is it?

Likelihood is that if the physical port is shafted they'll give you a new phone anyway.

Blimey. I've just reread this. Sounding like a total spanner wasn't my intention but you catch my drift...

but if they find out I've been tampering with the firmware will that not void warranty.? I have some ridiculously strong neodymium magnets. Maybe I should give the phone a few passes over them before sending it back?

No, dude really! Don't do that!

You could easily set up currents in the chips that would fry them outright, then it wouldn't be just a connector issue.

I don't think you can get it back to stock without ADB, there are a couple of threads that describe the process but they all use ADB to load the stock recovery loader.

I know but then at least O2 will give me a new phone and not find out that I altered the firmware

As in

1. Put update.pkg to SD card root folder.

2. Power up Streak whilst holding both volume buttons.

3. Select option 2 – “software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD card” by pressing camera button.

4. Press camera button again Job done.

Maybe, although as far as I remember I couldnt do that last time for some reason. I had to to install new firmware using the fastboot method. I'm certainly going to give it a go though.

You will need to falsh the stock recovery to flash the original 1.6 update.pgk, there are some modded recovery to enable downgrading firmware, i'm sure you will be able to find on this site - theres a post by marciu with the recovery i used when i was in trouble with the 'stuck on dell screen' issue.

If you have WiFi there is a really usefull app called adbWireless if you install that you can connect wirelessley

As long as you have the stock recovery and update.pkg on the sd you can flash.

To flash the recovery via adb:

#adb shell

$ su

# flash_image recovery /sdcard/where/your/recovery/image/is/recovery.img

# reboot

When it starts to reboot hold down volup+voldown+powerbutton into stock recovery option two and boom

As im at work i dont have the link i used for dwongrading to 1.6 from 2.1 to get my streak repaired but it worked very well.

I can post later today if you like?

thanks.

 thats excellent, thanks for that. I'm still waiting for the universal phone battery charger I bought of ebay so can't try it yet but this looks like just the solution. I think I have the 1.6 firmware somewhere and the stock recovery so will be able to do it.

Once you have flashed back to 1.6 i would take it bact for a warranty repair, if you bought from o2 you can send it off for repair and if they cant repair within 5 days [i think] they will send you a new phone.

the links i used for downgrading:

The files on post #49 are the ones i used. i'm not sure if they are the same as the ones in pauls thread

good luck

Is there anything in the o2 contract to say you can't upgrade the firmware?

I'm with o2 and if it was me I wouldn't bother going to stock. I highly doubt there will be any issue and as said I think you'll be given a new device anyway or a least a new mobo.

It depends on what version of the firmware is on there i suppose, if the leaked 2.1 version is in there and it goes in for repair and the engineer manages to power it up they will see straight away that the device has been tampered with, thus voiding the warrenty
