Guest SomeoneStoleMyYodafone Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) Hi all, I'm experiencing an issue where the CPU refuses to scale down. I only realised it when I noticed that SetCPU wasn't scaling the CPU speed at all. I installed an app called Temp+CPU V2 from the Market and discovered that the processor remains at 1GHz even if the CPU load (usage) is something like 4%. The problem seems to occur after the Streak has been in standby (screen off) for some time, and seems to be more prevalent if it is left connected to the charger. It also seems to remain after a factory reset. I'm on O2 build 8105. Anyone want to check this out? Edited September 17, 2010 by SomeoneStoleMyYodafone
Guest Ellis Grouse Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 This happened on 1.6 as well... it seems the Streak CPU refuses to scale, although I'd put it more down to a software limit than the processor being physically unable.
Guest SomeoneStoleMyYodafone Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Sigh. Guess I'll hope on Paul to fix this if he can drop a kernel into the MCR  I forgot to add that SetCPU does scale the CPU speed properly when first installed. However, after a while the thing just reverts to 1GHz.
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted September 18, 2010 Report Posted September 18, 2010 (edited) I am having this issue also. Dont have setcpu installed though Edit. This may just be display error try removing and readding tempcpu widget. Check /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/stats/time_in_state to see if cpu is scaling Edited September 18, 2010 by Stephen Hyde

I have this exact issue and believe it's eating my battery.. did anyone manage to get a fix for this?
Guest zx322a Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 sometimes the setcpu app shows that the cpu speed is at 528 =..=

I get figures like 245MHz (245000) - 10000 ... ... 998MHz (998000) - 500000 I assume that file shows increments in clock cycles? Whatever it is, it seems to be spending almost no time in states other than 998MHz. The numbers are incrementing in the hundreds and thousands for the 998MHz state, and in 1's and 2's for the others.

I've just gone back to static and it seems to have stopped, touch wood...
