Emails keep bugging me, keeps saying unread when I read them!

Hey guys, I am on the Modaco R2 2.1 rom and the emails keep annoying me.

If I tick the emails that I supposedly have not read and go to "Mark as Read" in the menu options they still stay as Unread.

Anything I can do about this? Or another method to follow?

Am sure I lots but after switching the phone off and back on it thinks I didn't open them either, so it is very annoying.

edit: this is with the default emails app on the phone, with my hotmail accounts.

Had the same problem; open the email folder (not individual emails); just the list of emails and hit the center button and choose "Mark all Read". it clears out the notifications popping up.
