Using framework-res.apk from another ROM?

Just a quick question. I'm on AuraxTSense 7.6.1 at the mo, and tbh I'd prefer to use MCR r9, and of course, I will be.. But I have one little niggle with it.

I prefer the icons from AuraxTSense, which is basically Android Stock, just a different colour. Where the Signal, Wireless, Data are all different to HTC Sense's version. I'm going to try to flash it anyway and see if it works, if not, nevermind, but I'm just wondering if it doesn't work, is there a way to change the icons by editing the framework-res.apk? If so, could someone give me a brief on how to do so.
