Guest AJCrowley Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) OK, so i'm out of a 10 year run with Orange, and walking past the Carphone warehouse in meadowhall, Sheffield, saw the streak on a stand. having no impulse control, bought it on the spot on the o2 24 month gig. 1. it's a 1.6. is it worth waiting til this 2.2 is out and do it "officially"? i noticed a post which implied doing the o2 upgrade to 2.1 is a cinch, what are the chances of buggering the thing? 2. i've been used to a blackberry, which fits in my jeans, or my trouser pocket. this Streak is a bit large, are there any good Belt rigs, or does anyone know a good shoulder type holster? 3. I've been used to Push email, what's the best way to emulate this with Android? 4. again, being used to the BB IM system, what's the more reliable IM system to run on Android, without eating too much bandwidth? Guest Stephen Hyde Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 welcome to streaksdom  1. is down to personal preference, i personally use 2.1 update with no issues really now. 2. cant really help here my streaks in me pocket mostly 3. gmail is full push mail natively 4. google talk is preinstalled and working quite well
Guest popetodd Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 1) Mr Hyde is correct, depends on if you can wait. I run 2.1 on mine. 2) Yes, I have a shoulder rig (but under my suit jacket it does NOT look douchey) that I bought a couple of years back from http://www.eholster.com/ for my Zaurus SL-6000. Don't wear it at an American airport though or you'll get the anal probe treatment (from first hand experience). Mostly though it just lives in my front pocket. 3) Yup, GMail works wonderfully on this device. 3) Don't know, don't IM much. There's no one I want to be that close to.
Guest MikeF74 Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) 1) It's all about personal preference and your technical ability. It's not hard to upgrade, but if something gets messed up it takes a fair amount of research and work to find and implement a solution. But, then again, there's no better way to learn than to jump in. 2) No experience 3) Push works great 4) I've only used the Trillian IM software which is in late open beta. The beta is free to use, the final product will be a paid app. It's good. Edited September 19, 2010 by MikeF74
