Question abt 3G/EDGE - TMo (US)

Hello all,

Before I send my Streak back :lol:, I had a one quick question.

From what I've been reading, even if I unlock my streak with Rebemsim (v 1.2) or (somehow) get unlock code from AT&T to use it on TMo, it will only work on TMo - EDGE frequencies and will not be able to use TMo's 3G? Is that correct?

Is speed really slow when used with EDGE?

Right now I've Nokia N900, and I am getting 1.9 mbps as download and 1 mbps as upload speed.

Please help me out!

Yes, you are correct. A US retail Streak will only work with T-Mobile's Edge service due to frequency differences.

Most phones have a setting to turn off the 3G. Turn off your Nokia's 3G and you'll get a feel for what Edge is like.

There are two ways to get 3G with TMO. 1) Find an AWS version. 2) Wait for the rumored Claire (TMO Streak).

Mike, you are right. Just today i got my unlock code from AT&T and tested INet speed and it took almost 1+ min to load NatGeo site. I guess I am going to have to return it. So much for getting it unlocked.
