Guest m4tt24 Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 (edited) Has anybody tried any of these kits from ebay? i've been looking on there since the release of the streak but these are actually made for the streak looking at them not just some huge block of plastic that fits anything. I've linked to the shop as this seems to be the only person selling them anybody that has taken the plunge please let us know what they are actually like, there's a few different ones even one for motorbikes although that might need an extra brave person to try it first, prices look ok maybe worth buying until dell sort their pricing out. Guest Shauneh Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 One thing I notice with these, no car charger hahaha so there's not really much point getting it when you compensate the cost of getting a USB Lighter port that will work with the streak. This is the problem with PDMI  -- Shauneh
Guest Shauneh Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 (edited) Double post woops. -- Shauneh Edited September 20, 2010 by Shauneh
Guest mikeqtoo Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 hmmm I might try one for my bike as I use the streak with CardioTrainer a lot.

Guest Loconinja Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I'm wondering if I could modify one of these to fit my Brodit car clip, as there isn't a Brodit Streak holder yet.
Guest twe Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 hmmm I might try one for my bike as I use the streak with CardioTrainer a lot. They do one for bikes: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BIKE-MOTORBIKE-MOUNT...=item27b4b1cf76
Guest rovex Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 They are fine. I have one in my car. It fits perfectly and it doesnt wobble about like many cheap ones. People have reported that the official Dell ones wobbles around like mad.

Thanks, just had a look through the feedback for this seller and streak items and nothing but positive, with your comments added think I'm gonna buy one this week.

The cheap ones don't have some of the pins joined I'm not sure if its by a transistor or not but it was stated by the guy who made his own micro USB connector to PDMI that the USB end needs pins jumped in order for it to charge. When someone shows me one for £2 I would buy but untill then I still would like to have a car charger that would work... Edit: just to add that even the iPhone socket wont power my streak. -- Shauneh Edited September 21, 2010 by Shauneh

Alright, it's £3 but it was free postage, even if it was sent by carrier pigeon... As far as holders go, loads get sold as fitting the streak but all of the ones that have expandable "jaws" do not fit landscape and suggest you fit the phone in portrait and swivel the neck. I bought one of these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT and while it seemed ok on first inspection (it was only a fiver), I soon discovered that it either obscures the on/off and camera buttons or fitted the other way, turns the volume all the way off when the unit is fitted as snugly as it needs to be. I have seen others like this where the jaws split 2 ways which may yet prove suitable. Considering that these generally only cost around 5 quid, I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has one.

I've completley avoided those sort of holders they just didn't look like they would fit it properly and were on ebay before the streak came out  it was the cut out section for the camera and slot for the speaker on this one that showed it was more made for the streak, if that USB car charger works that me sorted for the car for under £20. Guest jannism Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Well I can vouch for that usb car charger 100%
Guest Shauneh Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Well I can vouch for that usb car charger 100% Thanks. :( that's more like what I was expecting for a reply. The holder in the first post looks great but the reason I would just cope with the original is because u get the extra USB aswell. And those are expensive... I would rip it apart and make.an extension board. :) -- Shauneh
Guest twe Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 I bought a usb car charger from ebay that looks similar and same price said for the Dell Streak but the sticker on it says maximum 500mAh which surely is not enough when using it as a sat nav etc? Does your say that?

Does your say that? Like I said. It charges my Streak. It does this while playing music on it through my car's line-in (volume set to full on the streak, fwiw). I've not used it as a sat nav but fail to see the difference this would make. I'll happily report back when I've got a holder. Reckon I'll probably get the one from the OP. :) Sticker on the side of the charger says "max: 1A", which of course equates to 1000mah. I hope that clears things up.
Guest fards Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 gps for less are pretty close to me, so I can always nip in to check stuff (they don't usually welcome visitors, but it seems silly paying for postage when its going 2 miles)

Guest m4tt24 Posted October 3, 2010 Report Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) This is a perfect fit for the streak absolutely no rattle with the phone in the frame, the frame is very lightweight but still feels quite strong the rest of the holder is just a standard universal mount + came with the extra 8 screen protectors, ordered late Thursday and delivered yesterday, you can't use it with a case on but if you've bought something very flexible like the otterbox it's seconds to remove and replace after.
