Apps installed to SD card but still low on internal Storage?

Hello guys,

Old fella here needs some advice.

I put my Gold card in yesterday evening and checked for updates. There was one so I downloaded it and whilst it was trying to install it said that I only have 17mgs of available space please reserve 25 megs for this update(or something like that)

I was surprised because almost all of my apps are installed onto the sd card I set the default install location to SD card (using Android sdk tools)

So what is using all my space and is there a way to recover it? I have not got that much installed and I am rather surprised to have run out of internal storage so quickly.

I use Stock froyo unrooted, phone is debranded. Would I be able to uninstall all the HTC apps that I dont use if I use unrevoked to root it?

Thanks and sorry if this is a bit dumb but i am very new to this kind of thing.

Yeah mate . When you force apps to SD, it's got to have a partition in order for it to force the apps to. Back up your SD Card (not GoldCard), and format it with ROM Manager (available from the Market) and scroll down to "Partition SD Card" and select 512 and then 0. That should be fine then!

STOP!

Not with Stock FROYO you don't. The stock Froyo A2sd is not as good as the method using a partition as far as storage useage goes. The corruption issue for the partition method seems fixed now too in r9 of Paul's ROM.

Yes, I know that Stock Froyo you don't, but not all apps are installed on to SD Card. Only ones which have been made to do so in the first place. Eg.. Angry Birds and Google Sky Maps. Other's may not even have the ability to "Move to SD" for Froyo, which is why I mentioned nothing about it. Hence why A2SD is the way forward, even with Froyo.

Still none the wiser I'm afraid. My Desire is not rooted but using a guide I found on the net all apps appear to be installed to the SD card. So I suppose I will have to stick with it until Froyo can be rooted, then I can use a custom rom with only the things I use installed. Cuz there is no way I can have everything istalled to the card yet still have no available internal space for updates.

Heya mate, just a quickie.. Froyo can be rooted now, it has been for quite some time in fact! And in fact most people I come across, their Froyo's are rooted. Have you looked at any guides? If I were you I'd take a look over at xda-developers in the Desire Developement section, there are some fantastic guides over there. Even here in fact there are some quality guides on how to root and install A2SD. I'd link but I don't have time to, sorry!

Well I have formatted and partitioned my card I have made a 650mb ext3 partition and the rest is fat32 is that about right?

Apps2SD says no apps can be moved to the card is that because I am not rooted yet?
