Guest neo158 Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 I don't know if this has already been posted but Unrevoked 3.21 will root a stock HTC Froyo ROM without the HBOOT downgrade, it will even allow you to switch security off and flash clockworkmod recovery. I just tried it out today and it works  .
Guest psych0t1c Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Yep, I can verify this. I have an O2 branded HTC Desire which I updated from 2.1 to 2.2 through the O2 downloadable updater. You stitll need b oth the HTC USB driver package (with HTC Sync uninstalled) and the USB drivers supplied by unrevoked but it will even flash the dreaded SLCD version (HBOOT 0.93) without a flaw. A lot of downgrade how-tos just became irrelevant. \o/
Guest spammyspam Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 So just to confirm... this allows full RW to system?
Guest Gandalf-LoJ Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 So just to confirm... this allows full RW to system? From what I've read on CDMA phones yeah. GSM phones no. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776696
Guest EddyOS Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 No S-OFF yet, it's coming though

Guest Alsajosora Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Hmmm, I have just tried to root my Desire using unrevoked 3 and it seems to go throught the motions but ends on an "internal error couldn't find misc" error message...... I am running a stock O2 Froyo Desire with HBoot .93.......Any ideas? Yes I have all the correct drivers installed, I even tried it on a virtual XP machine in case it was a W7 X64 issue.......Any ideas?

I have HBOOT 0.92 and it worked using the Linux version of Unrevoked 3.21. I'm pretty sure that HBOOT 0.93 is unrootable atm.
Guest EddyOS Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Nope, I'm on HBOOT 0.93 and rooted first time...2.10.405.2 is HBOOT 0.93 and it's tested to work on that before release
