Guest cheappp Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 How can I upgrade a build 3833 streak with base band 00 to 2.1? I've just got a streak from eBay and it is installed with 1.6, and I decide to upgrade it to 2.1. Unluckily I keep getting hateful "FOTA model name mismatch" errors... I have been searching on Google and tried quite a lot of different ROM available on the Internet. I guess my model is a bit special? It's an UK O2 locked, 1.6 android with GAUSB1A110400-EU + build 3833... and I found the most of the update roms (.pkg) on the Internet are for *-21 based band, can they be applied to my 00 base band machine? Can I upgrade to 2.1 directly? or do I need to upgrade to 4399 first? cheers,
Guest Dogmann55 Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Hi cheappp, Are you sure yours is locked to 02 because as far as i am aware the fact it is saying GAUSB1A110400 and ending in 00 should mean its an unlocked Streak not locked as all of the 02 Streaks end 21 not 00 maybe you got lucky and actually have an unlocked Streak try it with another Sim. I phoned the seller on eBay and he said it's an O2 device, well. I tried to flash the recovery ROM to the device but failed, the script stopped at <waiting for device> forever (I am sure the device is in FASTBOOT mode, and I'm using ubuntu linux 10.04, I tried with Windows 7 but the device cannot be booted to FASTBOOT mode, weird.) Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks so much for your help. Problem solved. There are two separate problems: Problem 1: Interestingly, the seller installed a 00-baseband firmware into the O2-locked phone (maybe he hates the O2 logo very much), that's why all -21 baseband roms can't be applied directly. It can be solved by restoring the stock image back to build 4399. Problem 2: There is a workaround for the "waiting for device" problem in Ubuntu Linux: http://sigsays.com/how-to/how-to-fastboot-...s-how-to-fix-it playing with my 2.1 streak now, lovely!
