Guest Phylar Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I love the Streak but the headset volume is rediculously low. I have a 3.5mm stereo in on my car that when I had my iPhone 3G/4 would be fine but I have to run it at nearly double the volume number. E.g. my mazda 3 goes from about 0-35, and usually 18-20 is what I had it with my iPhones, but I'm having it at 28-30, which is nearly max and the crackle from initial plug-in is crazy loud. If I were to forget and switch it to radio I'd blow my ears out. Are there any settings anywhere in the OS to easily change this by chance? or something we'd need driver source for perhaps? Thanks.
Guest twe Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 Are you on 2.1? I think I read somewhere that it was louder in the previous v1.6 of Android so hopefully this gets fixed with the other issues.
Guest DeathOfAllThings Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I have 2.1 and I have the same problem. I also think when I'm making normal calls, holding it up to my ear is much too quiet as well. I'm hoping someone comes up with away of increasing the in call volume all around.
Guest fards Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 you have tried turning the volume up while in call and when you're playing music through the headset haven't you? there's seperate controls for in-call volume.
Guest dalamario Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 You can download 'sound manager' from android market and check the level of media volume and in-call volume.

So you have not actually described a problem. What you have told me is that the average volume level for your music is low. You probably forgot that iTunes has a setting to normalize audio levels which when done iTunes analyzes all incoming songs and adds meta data to tell whatever apple playback device the "normal" volume level to start playback. That feature allows you to listen to audio from a wide variety of sources without having to adjust your volume too much if at all. So, is there an audio manager like that for android? Not that I know - perhaps DoubleTwist will add that as a feature. But for now, you're stuck with music playback being non-iTunes enhanced. Edited September 21, 2010 by Wee Thomas
Guest jackgt Posted September 21, 2010 Report Posted September 21, 2010 I and several others I know have this same problem. Volume level is too low using wired headset, bluetooth, or car pairing. In addition, background noise is very loud on the other end. I'm told that the caller can hear background noise better than they can hear me. There are a couple of threads on this already, here and on other forums. I've not seen a resolution yet.
Guest Phylar Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 So you have not actually described a problem. What you have told me is that the average volume level for your music is low. No you misunderstood me. I understand what you're talking about, but this encompasses sound output period through the headset, no matter what the source. As in, it simply can't nearly the raw power (decibels? watts?) out the headphone jack. I think it needs to be amplified by about a flat 25-40% or so (I guess that's a big range, but decent QA time could figure something out there comfortably).
Guest Pampered4Life Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 I have noticed this as well and have reported the said issue to @DellCares on Twitter. An issue is definitely present. When playing any song including songs from ripped cds, the wired headset audio gain is extremely low. I have a Touch Pro 2 and can turn its volume all the way up and turn car stereo volume up to 30 out of 50 and its loud. If I take the Dell Streak and turn media volume all the way up and turn car stereo volume up to 30 out 50 its not nealy as loud. If I then turn car stereo volume up to 50 out of 50 then its not nearly the ear buster that Touch Pro 2 exhibits.
Guest stinky817 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 yeah, i've noticed this as well.. the first day i had the streak actually. i use my pphone as my main music source at work and in the car, so having to crank up the volume whenever i have a headphone jack in is rather annoying. i saw an app in the market (saw it in a link on someones signature here) and i'm not sure if it'll work with the streak. and i'm not sure how the 24 hour return policy works for the market, so i haven't bought it... i think it was called something volume hack. i forget exactly.
