uscc htc desire rom problems

i put open desire 4-0-19 rom on my phone and now when i try to put a diffrent rom on my phone it then when i reboot all i get is the htc with the white screen and then i can put the open desire rom back on and it works again please help i like the open desire rom but it drians the battery really bad if i could fix that problem i would keep it some thing about the black light will not shut off.
