Someone over on xda already got this running on Desire however it's not a simple update.zip flash.

Paul just tweeted this too!

So yeah, the Desire Z / HD ROMs run on the N1 and Desire. With serious space issues. Running uber optimisation scripts. ;-)

I creamed.

Is anything not working? Camera? MCR builds on their way?

Looking good, Paul...you gonna be releasing anything based on this yet? Is it actually worth using now?

hehehe  Paul,always the best!

You have done this by a flashable zip or with the way used on xda ( micro-sd + internal storage)?

Posted

That's the ONLY way as it's too big for the Desire's internal memory

Yes but it is possible to copy files to sdcard using the android updater script.

Im reading on XDA that porting the new sense to the desire seems possible, anyone got any more on that?

I have the Desire HD ROM running on my Desire

It's gorgeous :) :( :)

Camera is NOT working, but anything else works :(

You need a ext-partition on the sd-card, cause some files are stored there! And because of that, the rom is laggy sometimes...

You know what will be fun?

We'll get a working Sense rom and then Gingerbread will come out and make things obsolete (or so Google claims).

What concerns me is that, with 3.0 due to be unveiled some time in the next couple of months, the minimum specs are probably already finalised... and now HTC are releasing phones with 1.5GB internal storage.

Do they know something? Or was the extra storage purely to accommodate the new version of Sense?

Probably for Sense because I doubt that Google would let their one and only phone hang dry.

They'll probably get it running on a Nexus One (or they'll ship out Nexus Two  )

Interestingly, somebody tweeted earlier that they had seen what they called a 'Nexus Two' running Gingerbread today. And it was manufactured by Samsung. Check Paul's twitter, he re-tweeted it.

I don't get the impression that she's making it up, but it's possible it's just a top-secret developer phone rather than an actual N2.

Pretty sure it's a joke.

Not so sure about that, tbh. She's protected her tweets and deleted all reference to it now.

Gingerbread is penciled in for release in mid-october so there are bound to be a few phones with development builds drifting about.

Whether it was an N2 or not is another story!

Gingerbread mid-October? Is that official or speculation? I had no idea it was so close.

That was the talk over the summer. Mid-October unveiling with the first handsets to arrive in November/December. I'm not sure if Google ever officially commented on it though, I just remember reading the reports.

But to be fair, we're hearing a lot of chat about tablets arriving with Gingerbread in January now so I wouldn't say October/November for the official release is too far off the mark.
