Hi guyz,

I am using Ubuntu 10.10 in vmware and now I am trying to extract boot.img.

I used the split_bootimg.pl on the boot.img to extract boot.img-kernel and boot.img-ramdisk.gz.

Now when i want to extract the boot.img-ramdisk.gz, it always says the following

gzip: ../boot.img-ramdisk.gz: not in gzip format

Please can someone help, i am newbie in these process..

Thanks.

Edit:

Extracted it with unpack-bootimg.pl.. :)

You are in the same stage as I am. I have unpacked it as well last night, but when I repacked it and flashed it back to the phone it went KABOOM!

Can someone please guide us to get the proper tool that is git/repo, under Ubuntu 10.04 + with a needed Java5. Or a proper Ubuntu virtual image so we can play around with. I'm afraid I will be installing and reinstalling Ubuntu for ages until I get the proper git/tool.

Haha! this is my second Ubuntu clean install. Thanks in advance.

*****edit ****

10.04 does not work, upom installing java5-jdk on terminal i get a white license notification board, could not further go and leave in the middle of the install.

I'll trying 9.04 this time, and maybe some luck.

Thank you very much. We never then really needed git. liquidmkbootimg should be a sticky. liquidmkbootimg.

Kernel? I don't know no kernel. Can you OC this one already. I'll stick with init.rc for now.

thanks again
