Hi! New member here from HUKD :)

I'm just wondering if anyone has had any trouble with the camera? I keep getting this funny purple effect which takes over the dark parts of the image. This only happens until i point the camera into some light, then it fixes itself. I have a few images to show as an example:

I'm kinda hoping it is a software problem. I've already restored to factory settings because the backlight of the Home button stopped working (it has started working again now, for some odd reason).

Hello folks,

I have been lurking in the dark the last 3 days watching this thread and reading a few others by Paul ever since I saw this phone on hotukdeals.

Firstly I just want to say thanks to Paul for an excellent review as it helped me make the decision to purchase the San Francisco.

I have just got home from town having bought it and just waiting for my o2 unlock from an ebay seller (99p unlock...hope it comes through ok)...

I am a complete noob with android however have been waiting for something affordable to help me take the plunge and this was it.

Holding the phone it feels of good quality..I cant wait to show people..especially the iphone lovers my phone lol.

Paul im a complete noob with rooting and of course a little scared of bricking it (is that possible?) Is there any complete n00b step by step guide you could direct me to? I am really eager to get the 2.2 Froyo update on this (any update on that btw? or a thread you could link me to to follow?)

Im on windows 7 and would like to find out how i can root this but need a very simplistic guide to help me.

Lastly, once again, fantastic job..thanks again to you Paul and the Modaco community.

I followed this guide. It's well worth reading the linked posts too as you'll understand more what's going on. It's also worth watching Paul's video which is linked somewhere there too.

I'm not aware of anyone bricking a SF yet but it must be possible. If you follow the instructions carefully it's very unlikely though. Good luck - I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.

Hey guys,

I have just unlocked my phone to use my o2 iphone sim on it.

I have a question! how do I set it up to use the internet on this? I text Active to 2020 as it says on o2's website to have the settings sent but no luck there as it said they couldnt be sent..im guessing they dont have it yet for this phone - do i input it manually somewhere?

Any advice please?

Has any one who has this tell me what it is like in comparisson to the pulse to use sing im am considering replacing it.

Also because i love having froyo on my pluse and much prefer custom roms what are the likely hood of getting any i would do it my self if i knew how bun unfortunatly i dont no where to start learning

Cheers! I took a look at the post. Also did some searching for "banding" on the forum, where I came across a screenshot of someone else's camera problem. Sadly it was nowhere near as bad as mine. I'm going to attempt to get a replacement or repair before I try root, etc. Thanks for the info though! could be useful to me again in the future :)

Don't expect ANYTHING in terms of video quality, no idea what the actual specs are but it feels like 320x240 and 15 fps or something. Basically you use the camera to scan QR-Codes and that's it

Picked mine up on friday and it really is awesome, I love the screen quality and dualtouch! The battery does get pretty hot though, especially if you use it while it's charging. Not rooted or MCR'd yet but will be doing that shortly.

I tried the raging thunder 2 demo and that worked fine for me - no lag atall. Just goes to prove that this phone can cope with 3d gaming to a point.

Also, I'm addicted to angry birds!

The screen really is the best point by far though - compared it to an iphone 3gs and it really is just so much better! I've had it unlocked using NCK (couldn't wait that long for a 99p ebay job!) and that came through within about five minutes.

All in all a brilliant purchase, I just feel sorry for my lowly little pulse now... I've not touched it since I got my San fran :)

just purchased my GF a san fran about 30 mins ago, can't wait to get messy with it

orange rom is poor in design so 1st thing is a new rom, ive read about 39 pages on the review all sounds good

just paid £99 plus £20 top up

time to hack it, can you load 2.2 or 2.3 on them ??

time to do some research, currently running an iphone 3gs on 4.1 fancied a go on android :)
