Slightly off topic kind of,.... Can anyone create a module to run at boot with the overclock frequencies added?.... I mean, just as a temp measure until ZTE pull their fingers out?... Or is source required for modules too?

I cant wait to get my hands on one of these puppies!!!!!

Hello, I hope this is the correct email address for this situation.

A Chinese company 'ZTE' manufacture an android smartphone, internal model name 'Blade'

This is sold in the UK by mobile phone operator 'Orange' with the model name 'San Francisco'

As far as I know the Kernel source code for this device should be made available under the Gnu licence as it based on the

stock Android (2.1 Eclair) source code.

A number of users have approached both Orange and ZTE regarding this issue over the last 6 weeks and the source code is still not available.

If its appropriate, could you please investigate this further.

ZTE point of contact:

[email protected]

http://support.zte.com.cn/support/web/Contact.aspx

ZTE page where the source code is likely to appear (complete with apology for it not being there):

Orange point of contact:

Thread documenting some of the efforts to get the source code:

I actually emailed ZTE regarding this some time mid last week, I wasnt expecting much of an answer, and not very fast. But they replied within a few hours asking some details about the device (got a bit confusing as I kept involving the version aimed at the asian market, v880, which supposedly runs 2.2). Their second reply after that however seems to have been a standard we'll forward your query to the correct department aka you're not very likely to hear from us again.

I'll be replying back to the email tomorrow again asking when I can expect further information on the matter, and gently point out that they're actually required to publish the source code.

Send a copy to [email protected] and don't forget to say that it's been two weeks since they put that notice on their site.

They are sending same BS to everyone. I'd be surprised if you got actual letter from them, not that automated crap.

Just to confirm, I got the same stock response from them, nothing actually addressing the issue.

The disclaimer is a .doc, the source itself packed in .rars. Man, those guys certainly are open source gurus.

Anyways, thanks pring, who mysteriously just registered to post this =)

Is this confirmed yet, again they have released source for multiple phones but it all points to the same set of rars, at least they are in a blade directory.

can't tell yet, dl is super slow (about 1k/sec per connection), anyway, here are the links to the files:

Guest Freekers
well done lads, i expect an all singing all dancing 2.2 when i get home :-p lol

This is the source code for Android 2.1 (Eclair) not 2.2 Froyo.. or am I mistaken ?

Thanks to everyone who contacted orange/zte/gpl-violations. Well done!

Congratulations from me too ! Proper good job.

I would suggest only 1 person downloads it (so the servers don't get any slower) and then upload it to to Rapidshare/Megaupload

I am currently downloading with 5-15 KB/s and the total filesize is about 76 MB (9.5 MB per rar part), so this is gonna take a while...

Will upload once finished to Rapidshare, Megaupload and other filesharing services.
