Guest worley Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Hi guys, I've been happily using the 2.1 update1 since the leaked version then upgraded to the official version. I've had the issue with logging into market place with my google account where it wouldn't connect if wifi was turned on, I had to have 3G signal for it to work, then everything was fine. However, recently I've not been able to buy apps in market, only download free ones and use the ones I have already paid for. When I try and buy one it asks for me to sign into my google account. So, I try my google apps account with my own domain name, that fails, I try my @gmail.com address and that fails too, both have a google checkout account associated with them and a valid credit card. Each time it complains that (while connected to wifi or not): You do not have a network connection This could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. Please try again when conencted to a mobile network, or connect to a Wi-Fi network. If the problem continues, call Customer Care. [Connect to Wi-Fi button] Ironically the connect to wifi button doesn't appear when not connected to wifi. I tried to disconnect from wifi and conenct but for the last week at least I've not had a 3G signal, I just get 5 bars of 'H'. I've taken the sim card out and tried it in my old iPhone 3GS and I get 2 bars of 3G signal. So, I called O2, o2 didn't know what to try and said to call Dell. Dell told me to do a factory reset after making sure I have my contacts (which are on my google account) and images/videos etc on the SD card (they are). Did the factory reset via the boot menu (volume button+power), few minutes later, back to default 2.1 update1 with o2 wallpaper etc. Now instead of getting the google market coming up it goes straight to the sign in with google account, and guess what? Yes, that's right, the same problem, I can't sign in. Also, I can now no longer sign in to my google apps email to get my contacts/phone numbers and email. Phone now almost useless, thanks Dell. Dell then told me that they could send UPS out to pick up my phone in 2 days and that it would take 14 days to replace it.... great. This is fairly clearly a software or google account issue not a hardware one. I told Dell that I'd get O2 to replace it instead thanks as they're a hell of a lot faster. Called O2 again, was passed on to second line tech support who deal with dell streak, a very nice woman tried to help but didn't actually know anything about the Streak (asked me to uninstall the Market App and reinstall it), so she googled it and only found things I had already found, none of which helped. I can't get a 3G signal, even standing right at the base of a cell tower, I just get full 5 bars of hsdpa I'm now stuck with the phone without contacts, email or apps including those I've paid for, someone help!

WHAT, ARGGHHH!! That was it???? It's not on by default after a factory reset, that's helpful... It signed in straight away and now the android market terms of service are coming up.... Ok, now it lets me in to Market, hoorrah! However, I now have no apps ready to download under Downloads. I think it moved the apps over to my Google Apps email account, however, I can't remove my @gmail account without doing a factory reset, so doing that now, and will try again with my own email address Thanks very much for that
Guest worley Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 After doing a factory reset, then turning on location services again under privacy, turning OFF wifi (didn't work with it on), logging in with my google apps email (personal domain name, not gmail.com/googlemail.com), all the apps re-appeared in the downloads, horah! This is a really stupid bug, and really easy to fix, yet Dell and O2 don't know how to, I'll give them a call and see if they can get it written down in their databases for the next unfortunate soul who has the same problem. Thanks so much, where did you find this one out, I didn't see anyone mention it anywhere?
Guest Fxx Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 I got this same problem when i first got the dell streak i thought something wrong with my wifi or my google account,it took me an hour to play around with all the settings and figure this out.

Wouldn't have thought of trying that one! I passed the fix on to O2 who said they'd make a note of it for others. Well the thing that started all this off, not being able to purchase apps that aren't free has started again, same thing, asks to log into a google account, which I already did when I first opened market, however that was my google apps account which isn't a gmail/googlemail address. So, I turned off the wifi and signed into my @gmail account and now all is good, I can purchase apps and still use the ones that were linked to my google apps account. What a faff!
