Guest cagster Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Hi - Hoping some of you will reply - How many of you have suffered from unexpected reboots on "stable" rom ? and if so how ofen does this occur ? I am using FLB 1.5 - having had my phone repaired (board replaced) because of random reboots. Phone following repair has been fine for 3 weeks and now I have had my first reboot (while using internet) and I am thinking here we go again - the phone is going to start deteriating and the random reboots over time will increase until its unuseable.

If after re-flashing the original update (either 2.1 or 1.5) you still get the same symptoms, then it must be a hardware problem, sorry.

Guest Simon O Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 So are you saying that you have never had a random reboot ? Due to the Pulse having very low RAM it can sometimes cause Android to reboot as a very last resort. I've had a few reboots but not very often and certainly not enough to be a hardware issue. I'm talking like once every few weeks if that. If you are pushing the phone then this can cause a reboot. Pushing like playing music and browsing the internet at the same time, for example. If it happens for no apparent reason even if you're not using the phone then it could indicate a problem with the phone. If it does it all the time then it's a hardware issue 100%

If it does it all the time then it's a hardware issue 100% Agreed - I wasnt pushing the phone/multi tasking - just browsing internet which is why I am concerned (this how my problems started last time - once every 3/4 days to start with and then once a day and then finallly within 10 mins use). On start up usually there is 30 MB free ram - so probably there would have been at least 20MB free RAM. It took me 2 months and three shipments to repairs before they replaced the board and I finally thought I had the problem sorted. I think i was a bit hasty buying my wife a pulse the other day - i think i will cancel it - and eventually give her my phone when I confident its ok and have one of those San Frans for myself :-) Fibblescan - thanks for taking the effort to reply - also like to hear from as many others about the frequency of re-boots you get.
Guest gusthy Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 I am really pushing it and never reboots. It didnt do it with 2.1. Only (sort of) unstable config was 1.6b with large swap. with no or small swap it was fine.

Guest scoobydoo99 Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 LOL, I was half way through typing a reply on my Pulse and it rebooted  Mine reboots occassionallly, it did it with the t mobile 2.1 rom and it still does it with flb 1.5. Tends to be after a lengthy web browsing session, but I've also seen it while using google sat nav. I have apps2sd installed and have about 65mb phone memory available. If it's not memory, could it maybe be battery related? Other than this, which is a minor inconvenience compared to the 1.7 mcr 'features', I'm happy with the 2.1 rom and the flb rom is very good.

I can't believe this! My pulse has the same issue. I have had the board replaced too. And it still has the reboots. I really cannot belive this could happen to a lot of users? Exactly the same story? Bought a pulse, after a while it started to reboot more and more often. After you are trying to force T-mobile to fix this s*it, finally they are fix it, they say they are replaced the phone, of course you see on the papers it was "just" a board replace. Afterwards you think that everything is going to be okay, you'll have a quiet good phone, but one or two weeks later the reboots are coming back more and more frequently, and what??? What do I do now? I really don't want to go to the store again and going through on the whole procedure again. I cannot use my phone. If I'm listening music and surfing on the Internet, or just surfing on the Internet the phone is going to be warm and warmer, after 10-20 minutes it will reboot itself and after all if you do anything, so for example open the browser, voálá it rebooted again, and again, and again... WTF? It seems something serious issue, because if I use my phone as an internet modem through usb with my notebook, it will be really really warm too, but won't reboot, BUT if I do anything so just going to the menu while is it used as a modem, it will reboot immediately and again and again in a row. The only thing is what you can do then to wait until it gets cooler. ?
Guest hadley Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 I get reboots when I use google navigtion. It is very annoying for long trips.

Really the only solution is to get the whole phone replaced - it really is a big pain. It carnt be a massive problem else the boards would be full of complaints - we have just been unlucky and have bought a duff phone. Mine has only rebooted once - but not under any strain and had not used the phone for very long - will have to see. Good luck - keep us posted.

Mine didn't do random reboots till I moved to the 2.1 ROM
Guest cagster Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Mine didn't do random reboots till I moved to the 2.1 ROM  Well mine rebooted when i was on offical 1.5 and it was 100 percent hardware releated. If your on FLB 1.5 unless you are seriously pushing the phone with lots of multitasking then if the phone regulary reboots its likely your phone is faulty.

Huiwei should recall this product! In my case I know it was. - there are quite a few others with the problem - maybe worth setting up a poll to find out how many people have had to send off for repair with this issue. The annoying thing is that even after the board is replaced after 2-4 weeks some have had problems reoccur which suggests that their 1. the replacement boards are faulty - or 2. so connections to the board have problems. I loved the pulse - and actually just bought a new one for my wife as a christmas present (hopig this one will be ok and not develop these faults). I sold my pulse after it was repaired as I do want any more hassle and I now have the San Francisco phone.

He installed CPU overclock program and figured that the U8220 was running at 998MHz (I doubt if U8220 could run at 998MHz), he reset the CPU to 499MHz and his U8220 never had reboot issue. I sent my U8220 back to service centre of Hauwei in Hong Kong so I cannot verfiy this solution, could someone try to install CPU management program to verify it? Edited October 1, 2010 by my_u8220
Guest bounty123 Posted October 2, 2010 Report Posted October 2, 2010 So are you saying that you have never had a random reboot ? My Phone never ever rebooted as far as i can remember. With FLB 1.0 i got as far as more than 1000 hours uptime, after that I manually switched off the phone.
