Guest bbawden Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 (edited) Hmm, the link seems to be broken - the board software has truncated the link as well as the text. I think that can happen if you edit the post. Here's the link: http://j.mp/dlv4nt Edited September 24, 2010 by bbawden

Guest manicyaz Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Sorry NooB question - how do you apply the file to the OS ?
Guest BashyUK Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Sorry NooB question - how do you apply the file to the OS ? Got clockwork mod? If so... 1. Download the radio zip file and save to your sd card 1. Reboot into recovery 2. Select the option 'apply a zip file' or similar. It's NOT 'apply update.zip' though! 3. Scroll to the saved zip file 4. Select Confirm install 5. Press back key when asked to reboot, this will take you back a menu 6. Select 'reboot system now' 7. Allow install to complete, you'll get the Android bot popping out of the box icon and your phone will then boot up 8. Use. If you've not got clockwork mod, you'll have to ask one of the other guys re: using adb. I'm not proficient in that yet, don;t know enough about which locations to put files in.

Guest The Virus 2013 Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Is there a RIL update for this yet? I'm asking the same question... better to be sure before the flash
Guest BashyUK Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 I'm asking the same question... better to be sure before the flash Whoops, I'm guessing flashing straight away wasn't a good idea...although everything phone/gmail/wireless/sms is working fine so far...

I've done the same with 5.10 because I knew nothing about Ril but now I prefer to be sure, even if it works...

Hmm, if I have problems later today or a few days time...how do I get back to the previous radio from r9 without re-loading the whole ROM? Edited September 24, 2010 by BashyUK
Guest The Virus 2013 Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 You can extract the radio from the zip and just reflash it
Guest kai84m Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Just flashed 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14 and its working so far. But I cant tell anything specific so far - that needs more practical testing. Im in Alex-V 1.6.2 Rom (2.14.xx)
Guest CaspaTheGhost Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Hmm, if I have problems later today or a few days time...how do I get back to the previous radio from r9 without re-loading the whole ROM? As The Virus 2013 says, you can just flash the previous radio... No need to extract it from the ROM though as all of the Radios are available on a thread over at XDA... The Radio should work fine without the associated RIL files but it could work better with them... I've done the same with 5.10 because I knew nothing about Ril but now I prefer to be sure, even if it works... Same here, done it with many in the past but since using Sub501's mods I'm now aware of it!

Guest flolee Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 you can get the new RIL files over there at XDA.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...1169&page=8

Guest Asselberghs Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Hmm I´ve got radio: 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 it works but it´s unstable and low signal, I don´t know if it´s my carrier, they are called 3 here in Denmark, or the radio. Would it help to update the radio to what you posted version 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14? and btw the file is gone on both links can this plz be fixed? Would the radio work here in DK? and improve my reception?
Guest BashyUK Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Installed RIL files over the weekend but today my battery has been down by 12% without me hardly touching it and also running Sub501's new powersave scripts from last night! Am sure it's the radio...how is it for you lot? Have been running this for a week now and have the following experience: Much more battery drain experienced - Need to charge during the day whilst at work otherwise it will be in the 15% range on the way home - so that's from taking it off charge at 6AM and putting it back on charge by say 2pm. I do use it for browsing/music on the way in to work ( 45 mins approx music, 20 mins on rss feeds.) If using it with GPS on a drive, it will be down by a whopping 40% on a 1hr drive. I just stick the car charger on straight away even if the battery is still int he 90's. However, the GPS improvement is fantastic, locks are almost instantaneous when using the following: RAC Traffic, Sportstracker Live. Wireless performance is also very solid too. I'm sticking to it for now as a charge is always available. I wouldn't recommend it if you're regularly out and about and away form a charge source though, stick to previous versions included in r8/9.
