Various Boot Loaders

I noticed something interesting about the bootloader mode on my liquid (something which has actually been somewhat of a headache to deal with). The stock bootloader, the one that it came with out of the box from Rogers, always reboots when using acer download tool to flash a .bin file. What this means is that the phone gets about halfway through being wiped, and then the process effectively fails. Luckily, it always seems to fail before Recovery gets overwritten, so I am able to reboot it into recovery and restore the phone to functionality (although the first time this happened, I thought I had a brick on my hands). The date listed on the bootloader is June 22nd, 2010.

I was able to get a new bootloader on to the phone, dated August 14th, using one of the acer EUU downloads, which allowed me to flash .bin files, however, one of the bin files I flashed (2.100.07) reverted the bootloader to the one dated June 22nd.

What I'm wondering is whether or not anyone else with a Rogers device, or any liquid e, has experienced similar problems, and if so, what their solution was. I would like to try flashing one of the new 2.2 leaks, but I'm worried about what will happen if I do. I currently have installed malez recovery 0.6. Oddly enough, I had no problem reflashing the recovery using fastboot and the shell script provided by Malez.
