Searched and not found

I am trying to sort myself out without asking questions that have been answered. Can't find this one: Do I have to rename R8.....zip to update.zip. I thought not but I am getting can't open sdcard etc (bad) consistently. I have downloaded a second copy just in case the firts got damaged. Also tried via ROM manager; same result.

You don't have to rename since you can choose the correct zip file. It seems like a sdcard problem more than a Rom based one...
