It appears my rooting didn't work. "Cannot find su" errors.

Have you got a new icon in your applicatiosn that looks like an android skull and crossbones called 'Superuser' ? run that, for me it needed to download an updated version of SU

other wise try:

/system/xbin/su

When I open the "Superuser" application, I get an offer to update my "su" binary, but that fails with:

"An error occurred and su was not updated. A zip file (su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip) has been placed on your sdcard, please reboot into recover mode and flash it to update your su binary."

Don't know how to get into recovery mode though!

I've taken my app pack offline as the full MCR is going to be ready soon...

Hi Sebastian,

I have exactly the same problem as described here when installing Superuser:

"An error occurred and su was not updated. A zip file (su-2.3.1-bin-signed.zip) has been placed on your sdcard, please reboot into recover mode and flash it to update your su binary."

My phone is rooted (so I have ClockworkMod) and in fact I'm using your R5 ROM.

Any ideas, appreciated!

PS: I don't need SuperUser per se, but what I need to do is to delete some "system" apps (e.g. CarDock) that I no longer need using Root Explorer.

Thanks again.

EDIT: sorted using AndRoot (http://blog.23corner.com/tag/universalandroot/)

Is the only way to get Google talk by having root? I have a friend who bought an SF, they wouldn't cope with rooting though...

**EDIT ** unless it's possible for me to root it without a hard reset?
