Guest Paul Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Does anyone else's 'Sound Recorder' app actually work? I've reverted my device to stock and it crashes whenever I hit the 'menu' button in the app (I also tried doing a recording)... P
Guest toge64 Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 yup, mine crashes too, although it did record the sound afaik
Guest HugoQueiriga Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 It always crashed since day one, even before messing about with it.
Guest blackmath Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 (edited) It always crashed since day one, even before messing about with it. I've used the recorder a few times. No crashes. I haven't tries pressing menu though. edit: to follow up post, does crash when pressing menu. Edited September 26, 2010 by blackmath
Guest stuartmc Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Mine works fine too although the weather app crashes on me.
Guest HugoQueiriga Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 The app crashes if you press the menu, otherwise it works fine!
Guest evogav Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Mine works fine too although the weather app crashes on me. ditto - no weather app here too - just looks as though its starting up then freezes. Not tried sound recorder yet.
Guest Sebastian404 Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 My friend who works for Orange has apparently passed that onto Oranges internal Android support.... He did say that its actually French Telecom that does all that stuff, so hes not sure if anything will come of it...
Guest blackmath Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 Uninstalled weather app, completely pointless. There are better market solutions if you want that.
Guest orangephone Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 I use the sound recorder on phones quite often. What's the quality like?
Guest C++ Developer Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Does anyone else's 'Sound Recorder' app actually work? I made a recording but no idea where the SanFran puts it. I noticed that 'VU meter' seemed to bear little relation to the audio that was being recorded. Has anyone found a way to play back the audio? I guessed it might be an option from the MENU button but, like others here, mine crashes immediately. I could play audio from a recorded file if I could find where it is stored.
Guest Paul Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 They are amr files in the root of the SD. P

When i press 'Menu' pop up says 'The application Sound Recorder(process comm.android.soundrecorder) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. B)

I can record, and when i click stop it saves the file, but clicking menu i get stopped unexpectly warning. when you record something go into the filter folder and it will be at the bottom.
Guest C++ Developer Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) They are amr files in the root of the SD. So they are, thanks Paul. And yet-another-codec ( Arghh) to be catered for. Why oh Why oh Why, with memory being so cheap don't they just skip the codec and bung PCM audio uncompressed straight to the SD - Avoiding the CPU load of DCT et al would save power too. I'll compress it later myself if I care to. Though maybe if I could get at the menu of the Sound Recorder I could tell it to do *exactly* that? Edited September 30, 2010 by C++ Developer

Guest C++ Developer Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Works fine for me. Really? Can you tell us what options appear from the menu option of the SF's Sound Recorder please?
Guest razer_d Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 The sound recording on my ZTE Blade doesn't seem to work. I've tried several different apps to no avail. I've even tried rooting it and upgrading to v. 2.2 (Jellyfish RLS9) and that hasn't helped either. The strange thing is that the recorder works when making regular calls so the hardware is not necessarily faulty. Any suggestions?

All OSFs had the sound recorder bug with the stock rom As soon as I put on a custom one (I'm on JJ9 as well btw), the problem was sorted. Have you tried other apps after doing the upgrade?

What do you mean by "... the recorder works when making regular calls ..." ? Sound recorder does not record calls. And if you are hoping to record sounds and use them as ringtones, that's another different area. The Orange stock sound recorder crashed on some specific menu selection - for everyone. Hence as a simple alternative, I have always used Virtual Recorder as a simple 'dictaphone' type recorder. It works fine with DX2 and every previous rom I've used.

I've merged the relevant threads Assuming you mean the sound recorder in the phone does not work try the app I've enclosed with this post it will then work. Simply pop it on your sd card and install If it's recording your calls I can't help but others might be able to if your more specificSoundRecorder_new.zip
