Guest Riujin Posted September 26, 2010 Report Posted September 26, 2010 (edited) Hi all and sorry for my poor english, I hope to explain myself enough to solve the problem. Actually I've a branded and simfree Desire from Fastweb, an Italian network society. I'm wondering if there's any way to root it, except for the Unrevoked way (that would overwrite the recovery rom right? I'm still noob of this world ) that would be a bad thing once I'll need to bring it back to the stock rom, in case of an hardware fault. Here's the specs about the phone HBOOT 0.75 Firmware version 2.1-update1 Build Number 1.22.1600.2 CL176788 release-keys Software Number 1.22.1600.2 On italian forums the r6 metod for the Hboot 0.75 and 1.21 seems to be not working (obviously with the gold card in), and anyone used Unrevoked Many thanks for the help EDIT: The phone is an AMOLED I'm asking this because at the end want to have a rooted froyo (unbranded) and maybe with OTA updates enabled I don't know if this is of any help but on XDA in the official rooms thread you can find the RUU for the Fastweb (my phone) 1.15.1600.5 Edited September 26, 2010 by Riujin
Guest David_P Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 The first thing I would do is make sure you have a full RUU file of the ROM currently on your phone if you want to be able to recover it to "stock" in the event of any warranty return. Once you have that, Unrevoked really is the easiest way to root your phone however I would be sure to read all of the info oon this first as there are some specific driver steps that need to be followed if rooting in a windows environment. As for OTA updates for froyo, all you need to do is find a stock rooted froyo ROM and apply once your phone is rooted, although most of us here would recommend going for a custom ROM instead such as Pauls brilliant r8 or r9 WIP ROMS. Good luck and happy rooting David P

Many thanks David for the help. Do you confirm that with the correct RUU I'll also unroot the phone ? The only RUU online for the my phone is the 2.15 but I belive that it's fine and there will be OTA updates for that to the 2.1 or 2.2 as mine is
