Guest synet Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 (edited) Do you have to top up (as asked above), and would it go onto your current PAYG account? Or do you have to have a new account? Edited September 27, 2010 by synet
Guest blackmath Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Do you have to top up (as asked above), and would it go onto your current PAYG account? Or do you have to have a new account? Total charge to me was £88.95. If that includes a top up, even better.
Guest Samlock Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Can you then also add the £20 discount for being an NHS employee? If so this is a cracking deal!
Guest synet Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Total charge to me was £88.95. If that includes a top up, even better. As the phone is supposed to be £99 + compulsory top up of £10, and you got £20 off, then you have paid for a top up, although there seems to be a 5p discrepency there, in your favour!!
Guest robot1000 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Do you have to top up (as asked above), and would it go onto your current PAYG account? Or do you have to have a new account? It comes with £10 topup and you can choose to transfer that credit to your existing Sim if you so wish
Guest puj Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I spoke to an operator who said the £20 discount is a loyalty discount and you only get it if you have been with them for more 6 months. She also mentioned that it is totally separate from the phone fund. So you cant just get a new sim and use that for the discount.
Guest screwface Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I have an orange sim somewhere that is payg. So i ring up orange and say what?
Guest Jeza Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I've just ordered one over the phone and got the £20 discount. £88.95 including the £10 top up (which is a voucher they send out with the phone).... wouldn't let me use my phone fund on top of that though, but can't complain, still worked out better! Took a bit to find someone who knew about the discount, but got there in the end - Cheers!

Guest bobby-gg Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 well, I've just rang up too offered me £30 off the phone? just paid a total of £78.99 and getting delivered on Wednesday didn't ask if I got a tenner credit with that but I'm very happy p.s. had this sim card for 2 years, only ever use it for orange wednesdays and still got over 17 quid credit left
Guest grogan197 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 If you go via quidco or topcashback. you can get £12-£15 off the phone. If you then enter this url Orange NUS discount and enter 15 zeros as the NUS number it takes 10% off at checkout too!

People have said on HUKD that the cashback will get declined if you use the NUS with it, so it's one or the other

Guest mclassplanet Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 I have an Orange PAYG 2G SIM card which is about 2 years old but now comes up as "Unregistered" if I try to use it in a phone - does anyone know if that would still be acceptable for a discount? And if not, would reactivating that particular SIM reentitle me for the discount because it was previously used on the Orange network more than three months ago?

Probably not at then they will see it as you starting again. You could always give it a try though.
Guest synet Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) Anyone know if I can get this discount instore? Just to confirm, I rang my local O shop, and they said no  Looks like I'll have to ring up then. How long is delivery taking? Problem is that I'm going abroad next week, and don't want to be with an unfamiliar phone. May just wait until I get back. Edited September 28, 2010 by synet

Guest synet Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) I've succumbed!! If I'm not comfortable with it by the time I go, I'll just take my old phone. Had no problem getting the discount. I have been a registered PAYG customer for nearly 2 years though, although it has been nearly a year since I last used it!! The operator did check my number and the details registered on the account - name address etc. He did comment that I hadn't topped up for a while!! Should be here tomorrow!! Can't wait!! Out of interest which option did you try from the 0800 No.? I've got an old sim and the people I spoke to never even asked for the number, it was a straight no. Ordered off website now, hopefully get the cash back on that.
