Guest fluxcapacitor Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 This phone seems to have been pulled apart, rooted and unlocked in no time at all! There's also talk of a Chinese 'vanilla' version of the phone already running 2.2 For all us new noobs out here, what's the low down on getting froyo on the blade? Is it major work? Are we going to have to wait for the Chinese version to get ripped? Not trying to be pushy but someone else was bound to ask lol!

Are we going to have to wait for the Chinese version to get ripped? In theory its easier than other phones, the source for the kernel is already out there, so I don't expect it to take too long.. I heard back from my contact in Orange who I asked if there was going to be any official updates (fixing sound recorder, or a real working trial for the games) and the guy who was in-charge of that project is apparently on leave this week... great time to go on holiday right after a product launch
Guest Frankish Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 According to Paul an AOSP 2.2 build should be quite easy. I'm sure he is working on somethign as well as N1, Desire etc etc etc stuff lol
Guest alienbb Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 Its already out there  for china unicom http://zx.sj.91.com/content/2010-09-19/201...234438931.shtml
Guest lonegunman Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 be good if we could buy one of them to rip apart, looks like it has a bigger power battery as well.....
Guest Sebastian404 Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 looks like it has a bigger power battery as well..... Only just, mine is 1250mAh (4.7W) where that one is 1300mAh (4.9W)... every little helps tho
Guest tmobilepulse Posted September 27, 2010 Report Posted September 27, 2010 got to say, the chinese blade is slightly different from SF. The ram is only 256mb and the screen is TFT. My friend in ZTE China tells me.
Guest rjm2k Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 the zte site has kernel source for both the SF and the blade so there probably is some difference between the 2
Guest Paul Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 the zte site has kernel source for both the SF and the blade so there probably is some difference between the 2 Where? P

Guest Simon O Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 This is good, right? Very good? Well it makes sense, but Paul was unable to compile it.
Guest Matt Thompson Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 It had better be a long countdown - I'm trying to download the Kernel source code and it's coming down at about 20KB/sec whereas Ubuntu downloaded at about 850KB/sec!

Its coming from China....... I left mine downloading while I was on a flight back to California, and its done... I had a quick go at making it with the same results as paul... needs more investigation too I guess.

Guest Tom G Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 I expect to have Froyo running with limited functionality fairly quickly after mine arrives (probably 1-2 days), so maybe a week or two. If there is official Froyo support then it will even be easier than the Pulse was. I'll probably do a CM6 port as well (I'm currently working on one for the Pulse).
Guest rjm2k Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 alienbb are you going to post your rom? how about some benchmarks too please?
Guest fluxcapacitor Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 alienbb are you going to post your rom? how about some benchmarks too please? He doesnt have it , read his post again, there's a link at the bottom to the chinese site

Guest rjm2k Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 In Post Number 4 in this thread he has 5 photos and a link to this site china unicom http://zx.sj.91.com/content/2010-09-19/201...234438931.shtml but the photo dan653 reposted shows is a different phone to the original thread, you can just make out it says "San Francisco" at the top which is different to the markings on the other thread.
