Guest amoebauk Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) Anyone run a benchmark on the blade- mflops is probably the most useful? I use 0xBenchmark to run Linpack. For a comparison, my HTC Hero overclocked to 691mhz gets 4.8392 mflops/second. More examples http://www.greenecomputing.com/apps/linpac...pack-by-device/ Edited September 30, 2010 by amoebauk
Guest Paul Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 My Linpack on the SF was around 3.8. P
Guest rjm2k Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 I ran softweg benchmark on the SF and a Hero, on everything except graphics the SF was faster, graphics were much much slower.
Guest robot1000 Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 I got 3.653 That seems quite poor to me
Guest mannybianco Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) Here's a list of other devices running Linpack, for comparison. A score of 3.8 is not bad for a 600 MHz stock MSM72xx. Compare the 3.8 of the SF to the X10 mini's 2.8 for example. They're both running the same processor (MSM7227 600 MHz). Guest Paul Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Froyo will help a lot, clearly! P
Guest mannybianco Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Froyo will help a lot, clearly! P lol, no kidding. It's an incredible boost B) Can't wait 'til the Blade/SF gets a 2.2 ROM.
Guest amoebauk Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 lol, no kidding. It's an incredible boost  Can't wait 'til the Blade/SF gets a 2.2 ROM. My 4.8 mflops on the Hero was running 2.2/Froyo - So I believe I get a speed improvement through JIT.
Guest amoebauk Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Disabling JIT on the Hero I get 2.58 mflops/sec. So looks like JIT gives a 85-90% speed improvement (on the benchmark).

Overclock + 2.2/FroYo = good s***. The SF will beat that easily as soon as a 2.2 ROM is out, not to mention once it's been overclocked

That's interesting. I wonder if that will apply to the SF as well.. in that case we're looking at ~7 mflops/s with 2.2.
Guest pellen Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 An overclocked (~800mhz) HTC Legend running 2.2 with JIT seems to score around 10 MFLOPS  http://www.greenecomputing.com/apps/linpac...pack-by-device/
Guest tomjo7 Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 (edited) Pellen... HTC Desire # NAME MFLOPS DEVICE/ROM NOTES 1 ambioos 67.936 HTC Desire 998.4MHz htc_wwe/htc_bravo/bravo/bravo:2.2/FRF91/226611:user/release-keys Almost 68?!? If that's right, that's awesome! I wonder what the San Fran would get on 2.2? mmmm... Edited September 28, 2010 by tomjo7

And SF wont get near these scores as it is using a different CPU than Desire. As manny said I belive that ~7 MFLOPS seems reasonable with 2.2 and without overclocking.

In which case, what's the news with overclocking?
Guest pellen Posted September 28, 2010 Report Posted September 28, 2010 Does the Legend not have the same chip as the Frisco? In which case, what's the news with overclocking? Yes it's the same CPU, MSM7227. The kernel source is released so I guess overclocking is possible when someone mods the kernel.
