Tried to install Custom Mod on rooted Desire, but stuck on reboot splash screen

Hi there,

I am a newbie to rooting, but I went through the process of rooting my Desire last night using unrevoked. Great, very easy program to use, and seems to take quite a bit of hte sting out of rooting. I then today made a nandroid backup of my last working system before I tried to apply the "r8-bravo-desire-modacocustomrom-withadditions-signed" rom. All seemed to be working properly, but despite following the instructions to the letter on the phone (it told me to reboot from the main menu after the radio had installed, then the radio started to install again just before the reboot, is this normal). Now it won't get past the splash screen. Firstly it showed the operators logo for about 30 minutes, then I pulled to battery and rebooted, now it's showing the animated Android logo. Advice please

Same problem here, but the good news is you have the nandroid backup, so for now you can simply enter recovery mode again and restore the backup. This won't help you run the MoDaCo ROM, but it'll give you back a working Desire until we can figure out why it doesn't work for us.

As a sidenote, I have this problem with all custom ROMs I try to install; I tried MoDaCo r8, MoDaCo r9, Froyd Villain and SuperVillain, and all of them are stuck on the boot splash that keeps repeating. Common factor in all those ROMs is a2sd+; I have a second ext3 partition on my SD card, but perhaps there's something wrong with it. Can anyone more knowledgeable please tell me if this is a likely cause?

Had the same problem, solved it by restoring the system from nandroid backup and then doing complete wipe from the recovery. Applied the ROM again, and it worked! So, do a wipe first :lol:

Well, that would've been my next guess (there was indeed a problem with the partition table on my sd card, but fixing it did nothing).

I've just wiped, reinstalled the rom, and am now waiting to see what gives... Fingers crossed...

Only getting back to this today (busy busy week) so going to try it now, fingers (and toes, and arms, and lungs etc) crossed, lets see how it goes...
