Is it just me or does rockplayer (aka demoplayer) not work for everyone else too? It loads up, i select the file to play and then it crashes back to the home screen.

All my daughter wants to do right now is watch avi format films to show off her OLED screen.

Also some Live Wallpapers dont work either - the Mario one does but only if you turn the FPS down a lot. The Samsung Galaxt S - Ocean Wave doesnt either (both work fine on my Desire)

Any thoughts???

Which RockPlayer are you using? Universal?

I dont think so - I use it on my Desire. The icon is simply a black square with the DivX logo on it and demoplay written underneath. Just looked on the market on my desire and the universal looks completely different...

The CPU in the Desire is different, so if you're using a version compiled specifically for the Desire, it won't work.

Rockplayer used to have seperate versions but now it's all in one, hence the universal. So if you install that it should work

mmm... just put an old wmv on and it's struggling to play it!! It's not even that hi-res. 320x176 - ripped for my old HTC TyTN II. It plays a lot better in the default video player though?!! But still not smooth.

EDIT: But it plays full size DIVX OK, although the sound seems to be out of sync!!

yep the codec makes a difference - I downloaded a file off youtube and used Act 1 player to play it - it was horrible. But then I converted it using Xillisoft to Mp4 - and BEAUTIFUL! worked perfectly. I find Act 1 player a lot better than Rockplayer; and Act 1 has the option to keep the music playing in the background while you continue to play / open other with apps
