Gmail issue

Hi folks,

I am on gmail, and have the app on the htc desire. I want to send a 22mb video to my sister in the US, but when i try to attach the file on the email, it says that the "file too large to attach" (exact words). Hotmail does it, and google doesnt? is this actually too big for gmail?

also, does anyone know if there is a app to reduce these video files to send via email?

From Gmail help:

You can send and receive messages up to 25 megabytes (MB) total (including attachments). Any message that exceeds this limit will not be delivered to your inbox and will be returned to the sender.

but this does not explain why i can't send a 22mb file with my phone. any help?

What is the file extension?

Are you positive that it's 22 MBs? (I haven't tried it recently but the limit used to be 10MBs)

definately 22mb. and its a 3gp file format...

i cant even google an appropriate search!! :lol:

If your binary file is 22MB, the resulting mail would be much bigger because it must be changed to 7 bit encoding...

For example for a MIME encoded message with Base64 (the most common) the overhead is 137% in your case that is more than 30MB.
