Guest looeee Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Hi I have a new Desire Please correct me if I'm wrong with my understanding Before I can Flash the phone I need to root it I have HBOOT 00.93.0001 so I need to downgrade it to do that, I need to use the CID generator here http://ks33673.kimsufi.com/misc/ That website has been down for a month or so. Does that mean that I can't use custom roms? looeee
Guest EddyOS Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Just use this, no downgrade required... http://www.unrevoked.com/recovery/
Guest AndyHall Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Just use this, no downgrade required... http://www.unrevoked.com/recovery/ Did you try this? Did it work?
Guest bpivk Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Did you try this? Did it work? It works.
Guest AndyHall Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) It works. I does NOT. unrEVOked recovery reflash tool git version: 4f78f67 ERROR: n = -1, errno = 19 (No such device) Linux Ubuntu 10.04. HBOOT 0.92. UPDATE: It worked on my Mac, but not on my Linux Laptop. Guest bpivk Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 UPDATE: It worked on my Mac, but not on my Linux Laptop. Yes you can have some problems with the tool. It didn't work on my Win7 but it did on my Linux system. And you did ask if it works? And rooting works. I have done it and so did a few other people.
Guest looeee Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Hmm thanks for the suggestions but ... Well I plug in the phone, enable USB debugging, and unrevoked just sits there doing nothing. Tried on Windows, tried on Debian. Nothing. It is a standard o2 froyo rom. Any other suggestions?
Guest bpivk Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Tried on Windows, tried on Debian. Nothing. It worked on Ubuntu for me. And I had to turn off the phone and then back on and it suddenly started working.
Guest Asselberghs Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 I´ve used Unrevoked to root my HTC Desire under Windows Vista x64 worked perfectly for me.
Guest looeee Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 And now I've tried on Ubuntu and Win7x64 To the people who have just been saying "it worked for me" have you tried on a UK o2 HBOOT 93 ? The unrevoked program just sits there waiting without recognising that I have done as it asked, enabling usb debugging and connecting

Guest EddyOS Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 I used unrEVOked 3.21 on my generic Desire on HBOOT 0.93 and once the drivers were installed it worked fine (now back to stock as rooting isn't worth it for me)
Guest looeee Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) Paul's rooting guide is not an option, as I explained in the 1st post because the CID generator website is down  @Eddy, that's good to hear that it might not be my HBOOT that's the problem Edited September 30, 2010 by looeee
Guest bpivk Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 that's good to hear that it might not be my HBOOT that's the problemI had the same HBOOT so it's not that. Did you install the drivers when you used windows?
