Hello again!

I just went to Dell website for small medium business section and saw that they have two ways to buy streak:

1. Buy with carrier plan

2. Unlocked

you can see it here

Does that mean Dell now has unlocked streak?

I am waiting for my company's account manage @ Dell to call me back to see what does that unlocked version would mean?

Will post my findings

Rahul, kaise ho?

I have a Streak already which I got it unlocked from AT&T, but right now i am just using it as tablet only. I have tired using it with my Tmo, but EDGE is kind of slow B)

I spoke to one rep and he said it will work on any network now. I do not trust Dell on this coz starting from launching the product until now, none of them knows what the are doing (off course that's personal feeling).

Good to see another Desi using Streak B)

I am good, I got mine the day it was launched and I am using it on MTNL in India because I am in India and it is good and MTNL is the only one that offers 3G in India and so far I have not had a problem, though I am yet to seriously use the 3G network for data because it is too expensive B)

What version of Android are you using, not that it has anything to do with network speeds <kisse pata us se bhi farak padh sakta hain>. I am on O2 2.1 and all seems good and I love Streak B)

Here is what Dell has to say:

Dell will sell "unlocked Streak" from 15 of next month (which makes sense, as on Dell Small Medium Business site, if you try to check out Unlocked Streak, it says it will ship on 15 of next month, compare to on Dell home site Streak, which can ship tomorrow)

However according to guy@ Dell whom I spoke with says, the Streak hardware will still be same as the one which is for AT&T. So it will only work on EDGE/2G on TMo(US)

He also said "I am giving you inside info" that Dell will release software update for Streak (Android 2.2) in January 2011, which was suppose to be released in Nov 2010. He mentioned Dell has no intention of releasing version of Streak which will work on T-Mobile when I asked him about some TMo accessories sheet which had mention of Dell Claire.

He says that he is working with the guys who are product manager for Streak for Dell Small Business.

All above info is from the Dell personnel.

gawdd i hate what you just said..

if its really true that 2.2 isnt coming out officially until 2011, i honestly hope that someone can port it before the end of this year. this 1.6 thing isnt working out for me. what a beautiful device, but bundled with shitty ass software, its as good as a mytouch and runs about the same speed but for double the price.

By the time this gets 2.2 people will be on 3.0

I've been here before circa 1987 with a hardware accessory for the ZX spectrum, they promised that when the software arrived it would do everything they promised on the box... I still don't have the software...

Time's have changed just a little...

Am I right in thinking this could constitute a breach of the misleading sales claims clause outlined in consumer protection law, Dell's information on the 2.2 release was not caged in a 'maybe' in the press releases I read at the time, it was stated as fact as arriving in 2010. If they do not meet that promise it's my understanding that I would have cause to return the device for a full refund with no costs associated to myself.

I don't want to, but I feel that they should be obliged to expend more resources to meet their promise.
