A few quick questions re San Fran :

couple of questions ? sorry for my ignorance : my san fran arrives tomorrow, apologies if this is not posted quite in the right place ? want to get things right first time

1. i want to unlock it, for the sake of the fact its done, so if i do want to change sim at a later date or swap etc I can, But in fact for the moment im going to keep using the supplied orange dolphin sim for the moment, unlocking doesnt cause any issues with the dolphin sim ? (I know sometimes orange 3g reception is not good but I figure London i should be ok ?) Do i need to do any registering of the sim online prior to unlocking and flashing the rom ? any advice would be appreciated.

2. Im then going to root it and flash the modaco rom, as I dont like all the branded software gubbins being on the phone, and would like it be as optimised yet android standard as possible, which is what this rom seems to be (ideal) . Does it make any difference, whether I unlock first and then root and flash or the other way round ?

3. Presumably when using the orange dolphin sim with this phone , it will not get upset, when the phone is running the modaco rom ? except presumably i will have to enter the orange APN and settings stuff. I know my old 12 year old sim which still works !, used to have some virgin gubbins on the simm itself, the dolphin sims arent expecting to find certain stuff on the phone, ROM wise in order to function properly ?

sorry for my ignorance, I havent upgraded for years through lazyness ive been on an old razor on virgin paygo, lol this san fran will be like being teleported to the modern age lol . Can't thank this forum enough and all the people who contribute so much, to make it so great . This San Fran looked to me like the reason i had been waiting for :> to go Android.

if anybodys got any other recommendations on initial setup from experience then please post a reply to this

cheers all thought as much just wanted to check

NB RE WIFI : just left a reply on the WIFI connection issue thread, this zte blade works much better on WEP wifi rather than certain WPA security routers, if any of you are having some issues with wifi, and can switch the router to wep then do so, many other phones have similar issues the iphone included.

I'm also having some problems using WPA. It works somehow, but it has problems reconnecting and sometimes it lags down the phone. It's a shame it won't work well cause WEP is practically as safe as having an open network. :)

I have a recommendation for you... I got mine unlocked for 99p from someone on ebay -- admittedly it took 3 hours and 20 minutes to send the unlock code, but at 99p I'm not complaining! :)
