Guest tmobilepulse Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) [Edit by Paul: The Chinese file dump is in here. PROCEED WITH CAUTION, this is not for flashing by general users at this stage!] Hi! One of my friend in China has got the Blade in his hand. His blade is running android 2.2. I have discussed with him and ask him to backup his rom for us. However, he do not know how to backup it from his phone. B) Can anyone know how to do it tell me? so i can help him to backup it. What i have to point out is that the chinese blade is slightly different from orange SF. the ram is 256 and the screen is TFT. B) The pic is based on 2.2 rom + 256 RAM. BLADE gets 417. Edited October 3, 2010 by Paul
Guest David Horvath Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) PAAAAUUUULLL!!!!! If he can root it, and he can reach the filesystem, he can copy all files to the PC. That should be sufficient for us. Edited September 30, 2010 by David Horvath

Guest David Horvath Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Can your friend check the provider's website for the rom?
Guest David Horvath Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 No, we need the bootimage too for the kernel... P Dont we have access to every partition?

Guest tmobilepulse Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Root guide is here: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...emo-now-online/ yeah. thanks. but how to backup the rom?

B) To have the update (rom) would be more convenient. Do you know if the manufacturer has released it or not? @Paul: what can we do with the rooted 2.2 Blade if the kernel is not reachable as you say?

Guest David Horvath Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 It seems we would need the kernel itself, but i have no idea how could we get our hands on it. After rooting we coulg extract all the files, but without the kernel they are useless, arent they?
Guest Paul Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 People, no offence but don't give advice unless you know what you're doing! If this poor guy flashes superboot, he'll likely brick his phone! OK... here's what he does to do: - root using Universal Androot from here - this is the safest way, don't user superboot as it'll overwrite his kernel! - now you have root, run 'adb shell' then... su cd /system tar zcvf /sdcard/system-dump.tar.gz * dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd1 of=/sdcard/boot-dump.img bs=4096 dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd0 of=/sdcard/recovery-dump.img bs=4096[/code] Then get your friend to upload the 3 files - system-dump.tar.gz, boot-dump.img and recovery-dump.img and send me the link. I now have a spare dev SanFran, so i'll check the dumps out and port them as required (if possible). P

Once success, i will upload for you. one more question...what can he find the three files? SD card or the ADB folder?

Guest Bouncer5 Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 I belive the chinese version comes with MSN messenger on it, Can we get that too  at the very least the icon looks pretty B)
Guest tmobilepulse Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 Did your friend get a drivers disk with it? if so could he also upload that too? sorry. i don't think he has it. the thing i worry is that he might not have drivers to run adb shell. i have not discussed with him due to the time difference.
Guest Paul Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 He can download ConnectBot from the market and do it on device if not. AndRoot is now in the market too I believe! P

P just discuss with my friend. he will backup it tomorrow question: should he just root his device by universalroot and then just connectbot to input the commands? will that be ok? fastboot and adb will not be used during the process, aren't they? more questions: just install connectbot into my phone...but do not know how to use it .... understand, just input a nickname and enter...i can get to the command.
