Guest ste j Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Hi everyone, first of all, big thanks and good work so far on the san fran. ive been lurking everyday on this forum since being directed from ukhotdeals. its amazing all the info and good advice ive picked up so far and as a complete n00b to andriodl! i am however at a compelete loss trying the get xp drivers, there seems to be conflicting info in different places.. people have sad theyve managed it with the windows 7 drivers but when im trying to root its still staying on waiting for device so i guess theyve not worked? if anyone can offer advice on how to do it with xp or if indeed its possible id be really grateful!

You can install Ubuntu wth Wubi, what is the most convenient way, if you dont want to repartition.
Guest mannybianco Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 I'm stuck in the same place, more or less. I get ADB and everything to work just fine, which tells me the drivers should be ok(?). but when I turn the phone off, pull the battery, replace battery and boot the phone up using volume up and power and then connect the USB cable at the green Android logo, Windows XP no longer recognize the phone. When I run the fastboot command I just get stuck at "waiting for device" indefinitely, and in adb nothing is listed when I run the "adb devices" command. I guess I'll have to stick with the Universal Androot for now, and try to clean out the Orange junk manually (if I can figure out how).
Guest deweylewie Posted October 5, 2010 Report Posted October 5, 2010 (edited) I'm on XP and appear to have the same problem. Fastboot won't recognise my phone and it's currently stuck on the little green android screen. Where do I go from here to detatch the phone since holding the power button does nothing? Does this mean us XP users can't Root and custom rom our phones? Edited October 5, 2010 by deweylewie
