Got a SF yesterday. For the price its a damn good phone, but i'm having serious issues with WI-FI (not connecting) & 3G

I got it unlocked immediately & popped my Vodafone sim.

Now for some reason i cannot access any 3G network with that SIM in. This is at work and at home (or anywhere). I dont get a 3G symbol (the one with the 2 arrows) at all at the top of the display either. However, phone signal is excellent (much better than Orange) & i usually have 3 or 4 (full) bars

When i pop in the Orange sim i get the 3G symbol (even if the signal is v.poor.)

Now, is it a configuration problem (do i need to set the phone to use the Vodafone 3G Network - if so how?) or is it a SIM issue.

The reason why i ask this is my SIM is from my original PAYG thats 15 years old!!!! It’s now been updated to a contract SIM (changed my tariff 6 months ago).

So, because the SIM is so old, would it have an issue with 3G?

Cheers.

Btw, if anyone can help with the WIFI issue (not connecting) it would be really appreciated. (i read all the wi-fi issue posts/theards & i tried EVERYTHING!!! )

Make sure you've got the APN settings in, but with a SIM card that old, I think you're going to need a new one!

If the sims 15 years old (that's going some!!). Its not a 3g.

Don't know what Voda policy is on upgrading sims, but I guess that if you called in and said it had stopped working they'd send you a new one, and as they'll all 3g now...

They'd then move your number on to it so you won't lose it...
