Android Apps Data Sharing Study

I read it, and decide if I trust what comes up. Ultimately I usually click yes, but the day a game asks for contact access I'll click no.

If you think about it, no other platform gives you the choice, my iphone owning friends have got no idea what their apps access, whether ignored or not, it's great that android is so transparent.

I suppose that's the crux of the issue...is it really as transparent as they say? When it says, sd card access, sms access etc, what does that really mean?

Hopefully TaintDroid will pave the way for a permissions-based firewall. Displaying the permissions are one thing, but ultimately this is useless if you can't be selective about what to allow. Of course developers will hate it which is why Google would never sanction such a facility themselves.

Did anything happen since October or does the problem persist with no appropriate solution?
